Got some paint spray on the car while on a trip to Tampa. Must have been overspray from an overpass construction area. Anyway I took it to a local car wash in Tampa and asked if they could get it off. The guy said they could clay bar the car and then wax and that would do it. The results were horrifying, The car was totally scratched with fine scratches and swirls from end to end and top to bottom.

When I got home, I took it to Impressions Auto Detail in Palm City, Florida. The owner, Robert DiTerlizzi said he could fix it. I was surprised because I thought I was looking at a repaint. He had the car for three days and I picked it up yesterday. See photos of the results. I'm amazed! The car looks wet! In just three days Robert turned a disaster into what looks like a new car!

 

I have the same exact issue. I clayed off some overspray, and badly marred the paint in doing so. I'm not worried about it though, it's going to the detailer on Monday and he should be able to restore it.

Overspray is very difficult to remove and you need a pretty aggressive clay to get it off, which means you will need some paint correction afterwards. It looks great now!

 

Looking good! You can do it yourself with a PC dual action polisher. I bought one 2 years ago but was too afraid to try it so this summer I test it on my 2010 E350 for the first time. It's pretty much idiot proof and won't burn the paint. With the right prep, products and pads, it's really not that hard but it takes time. With the E, I first foam cannon the car and washed it thoroughly. I then used the Speedy Prep Towel which is faster than claybar and does a better job and can last up to 100 applications. I then used the Pinnacle Swirl Mark Remover with the Orange cutting pad to remove the swirls. I then used the Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 with a white pad. Then I used Pinnacle Soveran with a finishing pad and then topped it off with Dodo juice Supernatural wax by hand. It turned out great. Recently did my gf's car and did the same steps except used Optimum Opti-Eraser instead of Speedy Prep Towel for the claybar step and used Wolfgang Swirl Remover instead of Pinnacles swirl remover as the Wolfgang's product breaks down much easier. I also used Wolfgang Fuzion instead of Soveran as the 2nd to the last step and overall I was pretty happy. Cheaper than paying someone and you can take your time to work on your car area by area. Only thing is it takes time as it took me 8 hours to finish my gf's car and boy was I sore the next day!
