Just been on the site and was pleasantly surprised by the price for 4 brake rotors for the car. The current ones are down to 1mm of excess, are rusty in the centre and really stand out as letting the car down. I guess the existing rotors are 13 years old so they've done not too badly. There is a bit of a lip on them as well.
The current pads still have a lot of meat on them, what's the thinking re keeping the existing pads or should I bite the bullet and get new pads as well. I'm guessing the pads are original from 2008 based on the mileage on the car.
I've also just ordered a spare tyre and toolkit. I'll ask my mate in Texas to buy the spacer for me and he can ship it to me and hopefully not charge $100 for the shipping.
Beautiful car and lovely home! I lived in the East Midlands for two years in Cambridgeshire when I was stationed in the UK. Loved it and miss those tuna/mayo jacket potatoes!
I'm 6 weeks in to my purchase of a 2014 XK coupe. I honestly love that car more every day. Automotive artwork in my opinion. Enjoy!!
Got round to sorting out the rusty hubs last week, well the nearside wheels as I've only got two axel stands. Also tried out the new battery charger to see how much juice it would push to the battery to give it a kick and blow off a few cobwebs. While I was waiting for the rust treatment to finalise I took the time to give her a polish and properly clean the wheels that had come off.
It makes a massive difference. I've included a couple of pics of the offside hubs which are still to be done to give some idea of how much difference it makes.
Not a difficult job but a bit time consuming as you need to wait a minimum of three hours before you can paint them after you have applied the rust treatment.
waiting for the treatment to finish
nice clean wheels
Time for some Italian lubrication
giving the battery a boost
Nice of Jaguar to provide a beer stand on the boot.
