Default Shift knob removal 2009 Jaguar XK

Shift knob won't come off and I'm afraid to break it. Suggestions?

Yes, first you must unscrew the locking collar. It is that chrome piece at the underside of the knob. Then unscrew the knob.
Procedure is in the workshop manual.
Cheers

It's possible, after determinhg the thread size & pitch, TAP your aftermarket knob. I have a Jag wooden knob someone gave me years ago, that I have contemplated doing this. I looked at it once but could figure out how to get teh collar off, but then, I didn't really give it a serious look. While many may feel it won't work, I've done this on certain projects that have "stood the test of time".

Yep, just need a "bottoming tap" or it'll not hold well.
