Should i buy this Jaguar
I have the opportunity to purchase a 2007 black on black XKR with 15,000 miles on it. It has been sitting for a little bit and is only for sale because the older gentlemen passed away. the wife is selling for around 20-22k. KBB has this vehicle at around 35k.
I just wanted to get some general ideas on if this is a good car to buy (ie does it have lots of known reliability issues). Thanks for your help.

What are you waiting for????
Do a quick search on cars.com, autotrader.com, and eBay to see what dealers are asking for similar models. A 15K XKR with miles that low would be a bargain I think.
Jags are, like most current high end cars, heavy users of electronics and can sometimes exhibit weird problems so be a little prepared for that. Also drawler's charge an arm and 2 legs to even talk to you so make use of this forum if you like saving money. Especially if you're a bit of a DIY'er
That said they are more reliable now then they have ever been.

let me spend your money for you. Look it over for anything obvious, wrecked, etc. Ask if there is any maint history, chances they are orig owners, maybe you can find out what dealer worked on it if at all, then GET IT. ha ha ha
At minimum have a body shop look at. Mechanically they are solid cars. Expect a 1K repair for the AC condenser fix. That is a known design flaw that must be dealt with. Plenty of Jaguar dealer out your way I'd imagine.

If this XKR is in exceptionally good condition with no stories, and you are purchasing it close to 20K, if you decide it's not for you, you can resell it for a nice profit. The ifs are: no paint work, original owner, no immediate issues to address.
By all means have the body inspected by a shop that is familiar with aluminum bodies if it passes that inspection then have a dealer check it out and pay maybe up to $200 for that inspection. While that is being done make sure there are no outstanding TSBs on the car. If there are find out what it will cost to bring the car up to par. Then if it is a go, jump on it quickly and enjoy!!
Like so many of us, we have more than one car. Knowing that the person that owned it previously was older and recently passed away, is not out of the ordinary, and because it has low miles, doesn't mean the car is in bad shape.
Personally I have several vehicles (5). I am retired and these vehicles do not get driven on a regular basis. Over the last 19 months, I have put 2800 miles on my Jaguar XKR, over the last 13 months I have put just 2400 miles on my Porsche Cayman, and over the last 30 months I have put just 6600 miles on my 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T, (which is currently for sale and in showroom condition).
Most older car owners will keep their cars well maintained. Most older people drive their cars much less in miles. That is a fact.
Sounds like you might have found a rare deal. The fear of something wrong can ruin a potential super deal for you. Just because the car sat for a while, doesn't mean the brake pads have gone bad, or other related problems. If the car was stored in a garage and out of the sun, tires may be fine, paint may be fine.
When you state the car has sat for while, what time frame are you talking about?
Best bet, take the car to a real Jaguar Dealership and have them go over the car completely. The Jaguar dealership will be able to provide the best opinion if thee is something worong.

SrWilliams was set to buy a 2007 XK for about $24K with that kind of mileage and has decided to wait and get an XKR. If you decide against it, can you provide me the information, please?
Thanks for looking out for me Tberg
