Should I be worried?
The Jaguar XKR 2007 that I am buying has on it's last MOT (which passed) two advisories: "nearside + offside rear upper suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)"
The dealer says he is "certain it was sorted" but this is just jargon for "I don't care you've already bought it".
Should I be concerned or is this nothing to worry about? I'm only going to own the car for about 5000 miles of useage.
Thankyou
Hayden

I'm not from there, but when I read these threads they remind me why I don't like excessive government oversight. Without having numbers to match the description you'll not know of the problem is getting worse or has stabilized during the next round of inspections and it's now on the radar for every repair shop to say it's time to replace them.

He said he's getting his mechanic to check it over + give another MOT before the car comes to me in 1 week. I've put down a £1k deposit so I really don't want to walk away. Stupidly I put the deposit down after doing all my other checks and clears but forgot to read the previous MOT advisories...
Any idea how expensive suspension arm bushings are to replace?

No idea on the cost of those, but I don't have garages work on my vehicles anyway.
If the dealer says he will have his mechanic look at them, I suppose you have to trust him to a certain extent that he will do as he says.
HOWEVER...........if he comes back and says "yes they've been done and are fine", ask for paperwork to confirm it.
If he can't supply that, and if you still want the car, take it to a local REPUTABLE independant mechanic and ask them to have a look if they have actually been done.
Anybody who knows what a rubber bush looks like will know whether they are new or not, plus they will be able to check to any play in that joint.
It will cost you a drink, but you might also come across a decent indie while your there.
And £20 for peace of mind is well worth it.
