Default Simple? oil change question

I have read many threads on this and am still not sure of answer. Does the 2010 xk 5.0 have a drain plug and can the oil be changed in the usual manner of just gravity draining like most cars or do you have to have an oil extractor??? Thanks

From workshop manual:

An oil drain plug is installed in the RH side of the sump pan.

Yep - I'm told the extractor method is quicker and less hassle, because you only remove the filler cap and loosen the oil filter, which is why it's popular with workshops.

But the conventional way works equally well. They say to run the engine for 10 mins & then remove the filler cap and loosen the oil filter 4 turns, and leave the car for 10 mins for everything to drain into the sump before removing the filter and the drain plug (beware of hot oil!). Also, you should then replace the filter element & its o-ring.

Sorry, no idea about XJRs of that vintage - you'd be better off asking in the X308 Jag forum:

I suspect an improper filter install has prohibited proper flow. I'd pull filter and inspect
