Default Sirius will not activate

I've been trying to get Sirius to activate on my radio for the past few days and having the signal resent over and over, but not getting anywhere with it.

tech-support keeps telling me to tune to channel 1, I keep explaining to them there is no way for me to select or enter a channel number. Has anyone had any experience trying to get this activated or do I need to visit the dealership? The only thing I see on the screen when I select SAT is a message with the Sirius ID number and to call customer service to activate.

I believe they should be able to turn on your ID . Ask to speak to another call desk person or their supervisor.

Ditto. I activated mine by VIN and later that day needed to do an activation code while it was sitting outside. Perhaps while in the garage the signal wasn't strong enough to wake up the Sirius module.

I'm still not sure how much I like the service. It seems that most days it's 80 channels of oddball B hits and some days it rocks good music all day long. I also really wish the steering wheel scrolled through my preselects and not every single station.

Ozzie's boneyard and hair nation are pretty good. The 90's on 9 is hit or miss since I detest rap music. The older Jazz and Blues stations can be good too for original stuff.

thanks guys. I'm going to give Sirius a call back and see if they can get a senior person and try it with the VIN # this time.

I had the Sirius/XM free package for 60+ days but didn't find anything I'd pay to keep.
OH, but they DID sell my telephone number so now I get literally 50+ telemarketer calls per week. I had to get an app to block most of them. Now it's down to merely three per day.

I'm just now, after a few years of ownership, trying this on my XKR. when I navigate to the "satellite" screen, I see the Sirius phone #, and below it is blank.
It literally reads as follows--
Sirius ID:
...and then it's blank. No ID number. Called, gave them my VIN, and they still couldn't find it. Is it possible my car didn't have it? It's a 2010.

Full disclosure: it came on a car I rented recently, and.... I kind of liked "Yacht Rock." Not proud of it, but there you have it.

You need to read the ID number off the label of the Sirius module, is in the stack in the trunk where the Navigation DVD drive is.

What Cambo said.
Be careful though, I got that "FREE" six months of Sirius and a week after I (foolishly) gave them my REAL phone number I started getting dozens of SPAM calls per day. Literally. Dozens. Within a month I had well over five hundred blocked numbers. I'd NEVER gotten a single SPAM call until then.

I just activated a two-month free trial the other day without any problem whatsoever. Other than the sound quality of Sirius-XM is rather poor in my XKR. The sound falls somewhere between AM radio at sunset and FM from the next town over. I suspect there have been threads on satellite radio sound quality, but if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears . . . when not filtering through the weak signal.

Mine is pretty decent as long as I'm not running under trees. Then it sucks.

Aahhh Cee Jay is RIGHT! I have been bombarded by calls from various auto dealers about various cars "I may be interested in." Funny thing is, the calls are all from the NY/NJ area-- my phone still has a NYC area code-- but I haven't lived there in years. I am getting like ten calls a day.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

Aw, man.... that sucks.
The thing about Spam callers now, they can Spoof your area code and sometimes prefix so it looks local.
Didn't I warn you about using a real phone number???

I don't know if it's different for different model years, but on my 2012, a "long press" of the steering wheel scroll wheel will go to the next preset station. I don't use it much myself as it something like 3 seconds.
