Default So I discovered something today about the seatbelts...

So my seatbelt had twisted around so that the part that plugs into the buckle was facing the wrong way, which caused the belt to be twisted when I buckled myself in.

I was gonna try and twist the belt and pull it through the plug so it at least would not not twist the belt but could not get the belt material through it by folding it over and then trying to pull it through.

So I started trying to figure out how the belt got twisted to begin with. I started looking at where the belt comes out of the side panel behind the front seat. I pulled the belt out all the way to a stop, twisted the belt over, and let it go back in and the belt simply spun around and went back in normally! Apparently the end of the belt that wraps around the parts inside the panel is on some kind of swivel that twists around.

I thought I was gonna have to remove the seat and remove the bolt that holds the belt down in the floor board.

My apologies if should have known the belt did this...some of you may already have known about this...

That's great! I had mine twisted since I had it!! Thanks for the hint; thing is that some time back I did manage to twist the best through the plug to sort it. I suppose now I need to 'untwist' it back and need to remember which way!

Sounds like the spring loaded/winding mechanism which winds your belt may be broken/not working. Any seat belt, when pulled out/extended, should be under some kind of tension and when released should be pulled/wound back in by that spring loaded mechanism. It also has a hook that arrests the belt when you try and pull it out too fast; this is a safety feature that keeps you from being thrown forward (when the belt is restraining you).

If your mechanism is not working that way then you probably need to replace the winding/spring loaded mechanism.

rscultho - you are a great man It works. Do you think the twist would have 'moved' behind the panel?

Don't know...I think what I may have done to twist mine was to pull it all the way out when I was moving the seat forward to clean it. I probably moved the belt enough so that it "flipped"over...
