Space behind dashboard
Hi,
I'm planning upgrades for my son's stereo which is currently the basic system. My plan is an aftermarket amplifier, upgrade the speakers and install a custom made sub woofer in the spare wheel well.
An Audio supplier has recommended a 5 channel amplifier but it's 360mm x 180mm x 51mm which is pretty big. An alternative is a Pioneer 4 channel amplifier listed as able to fit behind the X150 dash (181mm x 38 x 64)and with a direct plug in harness. I would then fit a separate amplifier for the sub in the boot.
My question is, how much space is there behind the dash (glove box) or centre console for this amplifier? I really don't want to put the main amplifier anywhere else because of all the wiring needed.
Thanks.

IIRC, there’s not a lot of space behind the center console due to duct work for heating and A/C airflow. There is some space behind/above/below the glove box, as I recall mounting my ACM back there. I don’t know the dimensions of the OEM amplifier, but it’s located under the passenger’s feet (toward the firewall), and maybe you can utilize that space.
