Hey Bruce. I read that article and tried the setting - unfortunately no, it does not help at all. I read one article that said the same thing I am experiencing and what it said was - "the stereo in the xkr-s seems bright, and unlike the xkr we tested a year ago - maybe its just this specific tester". SO SOMETHING IS OFF WITH THE STEREO IN THE XKR-S. I have contacted a few other xkr-s owners around the nation - a few have also agreed that it is horrible and unlike other jag stereo's. One guy owned a XKR and a XKR-S and said the XKR, which should have the SAME STEREO, was much better. Not sure what to do about it? One of the xkr-s owners in cali called up jag and complained...he has owned 6-7 jags and he said they blew him off. He gave me the phone number to call and complain as well which I will be doing soon.

I wonder if comparing the XKR and XKR-S audio system diagram and parts list at the dealer's parts counter might identify a different component, like smaller subwoofer or amplifier for it, and any other weight saving measure unique to the S. Less sound absorbtion in the headliner alone could cause an overly brighter tone compared to the XKR, which tends to be a little bright already without significant adjustment.

I find most of my CDs sound great, with older recordings often having very little real bass, and the one time my wife used her I-pod we found everything on it sounded overly bright. I never looked into that aspect as I don't use one myself.
