Default Supercharger belt squeaking/slipping

Hi Guys

I have had a problem withe my 07 XKR supercharger belt squeaking since new. There was a factory fix (I don't know what it is/was) that was done in the first year but it hasn't helped the problem. When the belt is new it makes no noise. Once the car has done about 3,000miles the belt starts slipping.

The upper supercharger pulley was changed by Paramount before delivery and the Jaguar service guys blame the changed pulley for the problem. I don't buy this, I think they are just trying to get out of fixing a problem.

Anyone got any ideas or experienced the same problem?

Kev

My belt squeaks also after installing the upper and lower performance pulley the morning after I wash the car. After a 2-3 minutes the squeak is gone when the water evaporates. Again....this is only after I wash the car.

Is there a big improvement with the underside pulleys for SC?
Or just a pain in the butt because of belt noise?

Thanks for your comments... I have feedback from Paramount Performance that they have had no feedback from any customers about belt noise. They suggest that the belt tensioner maybe faulty. I will look at this next.

SC Pulley gives an additional 28BHP not a bad increase for such an inexpensive mod.

if your XKR did get the bulletin repair which includes new doudle sided rib belt, mount idle pully with bracket, new rub tensioner. the problem should be gone. i did hundreds of these bulletins and never had them comeback. make sure you had the bulletin repair them.

I had this fix done on mine as soon as I got it (still under warranty) because it would squeel like a pig when it was started until it warmed up. Very embarrasing when the neighbours were around too.

Not had a problem since bit I don't have the undersize pulleys.
They nearly always caused squealing on cars that had them in my 300zx days.

Are you running OEM SC Belt or aftermarket Belt?

I'm running aftermarket belt because I have the upper and lower pulley (stock won't fit if you have the lower pulley upgrade) and my squealing belt was getting worse in which every morning it would squeal like a pig for 2-3 minutes and also whenever the supercharger was spooling up during acceleration. I've read on other forums that the belt I had was prone to squeaking from people who had that belt so they told me to switch over to a different belt and now the squeaking is gone. It's only been a week since the new belt so I'll have to monitor it still.

It might possibly be your belt.
