And it didn't "stick" until I had an H-pipe installed in the exhaust system in place of the front muffler.

I know some of the Quicksilver products come with H-pipe however It goes against the grain of pretty much everyone on here as we go x-pipe ... I'm intrigued what made you go H-pipe instead ??.

I was going to go with an X-pipe then my exhaust specialist (who really knows his stuff, sadly retired now) recommended I go with an H-pipe instead. He said it would have the same effect on the tune but a "nicer" noise.

This is all true. "Nicer" meaning more subdued and smoother. Me, I like raucous and annoying. Redundant? I guess so.

I never did... It requires a file from an xkr-s, which I didn't have access to. I do have all the tools to do the flash, though.

There was a lot of gatekeeping around the process for an 13 year old car, and I couldn't find a straightforward procedure to follow. Since the stock HP is enough, I decided to stop and spend my time on other things.

If there was a clearly defined process such as re-naming files and editing a few lines of text, I would attempt it. I never found that, though.

Thanks for the quick update, I am really surprised by that.. i would of thought there would be more desire among the membership to do this procedure and pass the info on. Not that want to do it myself, I'm not tracking the car, and on the street 510 is more than enough to get a me in trouble. But I don't like not having the choice, since after all it is mine to screw up.

The XKR-S engine tune is already resident inside SDD though, in several locations. The files have a shred-out of ZAE for the -S. The /R tune has RAE as a shred-out. SDD only uses the correct files for the car it finds in all of those file locations.
SDD also will only update an already-on-the-car file with a newer file, so the A, B, C, D, E files need to be accurate also or you can use your car to build a nice wall around your patio. (brick wall)

Without rereading this entire thread again to see anything, the center resonators also need to be removed for the -S tune.

Why is that? How does the car "know" that it has center resonators? What if you did the retune but did not update to the PAE? Conversely, In my case my car came stock with PAE does that mean it has a different tune than the xkr built without the option? You see what I'm getting at here; Is the PAE worth any hp increase by itself?

The /R-S tune is specifically FOR a resonator-delete exhaust. Of course it won't 'know'. Just assume, as that is what it was made for. Put an -S tune with resonators and you lost most of any increase that you may have gotten.

I've noticed that there's a lot of that with these cars, which is certainly new to me when compared to other communities.

Doing this involves modifying SDD files in many different locations, A specific version OF SDD, A certain version of existing files on receiving vehicle, and if everything isn't set up just right, running it could brick the car. SDD may also lose it functionality.
It is not a simple procedure.
It will also only gain 45 ponies. Not much gain for a lot of work and risk.

You could of had a remap years ago 😆 it's easily done and has more power that XKRS tune you keep talking about. There is no gatekeepers, as iv said years ago , there is too much risk trying to do it with SDD which makes it pointless to do . There are easy user friendly tools these days, we have handheld devices that work through your phones app to flash 620hp and up to 700 HP with more mods.
Just an example of a minimally tuned FType R pushing 700hp
