Smile Ten Percent Tint, Head and Tail.

This was sort of covered in a different thread, but too sporadically.
I've always thought that the headlights on my XKR were too.... obvious. First I tried an eyelid coverup, but didn't like the look. Then again I saw someone in a different thread who disassembled the headlight and painted the inside. It looked OK, but still didn't quite get to where I wanted. In yet ANOTHER thread, I saw someone who had put I think 35% tint on their headlights and that was about what I wanted. However, I didn't want as dark as 35% so I bought some headlight-specific 10% and got to it.
On my Nebula Grey car, it looks fantastic (to me anyway). I diminishes the Too Obviousness of the headlights, and makes them blend into the rest of the car. (Think I may still cover the headlight washer chrome)
Those looked so good, I did the taillights as well. Gorgeous. The picture below is before I did the inboard tail lights or the third high light. There is no perceptible LED intensity difference in the brake light, nor the tail light intensity. But boy, in direct sunlight it makes a HECK of a difference in outward appearance.
These pictures do NOT give full justice to just how good this looks.

Yes, my car is filthy. Yes, I've washed it since.

It does look good. Is the headlight output affected to any degree?

That does look good on your car.
You're right, the headlight washers do stand out now, and could be toned down a bit.

I did the left headlight first and then checked that exact thing against the right. The lighting difference was nearly imperceptible, if even that much.

10% isn't enough for the eye to really notice. Especially as the lights are already much brighter than what you'd find on older cars.

I like it on the front, I agree on headlight washer, maybe a body cover vinyl wrap for it?

I wouldn't of done the tail lights.

I'm the one who did the headlights. Besides thinking there was too much chrome, I really liked the 2012+ headlight redesign. Sorry the pic is not the greatest, I need to take more and better pics of all of the mods I have done.

As far as the tail lights, I have the 2010+ conversion but it is a lot of red. I kind of like the tint on these tailights:

Great to see your mods done Cee Jay. Bit hard to notice on the front. I'm happy with mine front and back so not changing, Love the rear of mine , mean front and back, not to everyone's taste, don't really care, some love it some don't. Think you should go a shade darker on the rear if you just want the slight smoked look, anyway good job. More power to us.

I find most people with smoked rear taillights simply do not have a bright enough light source back there to show up properly.

That's why I went with the 10% instead of the 35% that is used almost exclusively. I had some old 35% left over from doing the rear window on my truck, but it was way too dark for both the head and tail lights. There are also 50% lenses sold (not for Jags of course), they have the typical "Not For Highway Use" disclaimer.

So you reduced your headlight output by 10%? Were you wearing sunglasses at night prior?

I don't notice a difference in your intro pictures. Must've come out great if it's that subtle.

Juuuust enough to knock down the full-on chrome look. It's easier to tell by comparing the chrome washer trim to the inside of the headlight. The side reflector inside the headlight is way less obvious also.

What modifications did you do to the rear apron?

I tried to do it but didn't have the patience and ended up couldn't get the wrinkles out of the film.

Usually with window tint, the lower the % number, the darker the tint.

I've not seen any marketed at any percent, just "Headlight Tint". Maybe there is a limit or something, but most is about the same amount of tint, at about 10%.
