Question Thorton Performance Chip

I know it sounds crazy to want more G's on an XKR 2007) but i found this chip that goes into the obd port of the vehicle and increases the hp by 60 hp and increase the mileage by up to 5 mpg. I purchased it but before using it I thought i would check if anyone else has used this or has any warnings on using it on an older extremely well kept Jag 2007 XKR? if not i will be the tester of it and let you know what happens.

I did speak with my mechanic and he indicated he thinks they are changing the timing an fuel mix to accomplish this.

Any comment anyone, last thing i want to do is hurt the Jag.

by the way i am not promoting this product just thought it would be fun but want to make sure it is safe before using.

thank for your input.

here is the link to it if you want to know more, Thorton Performance Chip

Nothing stuck in an OBD2 port will do anything worthwhile to a vehicle. They are scamming people. The throttle rate is probably manipulated to open quicker to make a person THINK there is more power when there isn't.
Plus, there is no way to increase power AND MPG at the same time unless something is wrong to start with. A repair would be necessary at that point and not any magic 'tune'.

I was bored and went to their site. Added the appropriate information. There isn't a category to select xk or xkr, just 8 cylinder. I guess it must really be a magic chip.
Buyer beware!

Better to just put your money in a pile and burn it. At least that won't damage your car.

No, no, no! Stay away from all those obd connector "chips" Just a rip-off.

There are a LOT of videos out there tearing these things down and running the schematics. All of them just control the LEDs to make a person think something is happening. Nothing else.
Not surprisingly, nearly every teardown video features the exact same components in the same configuration, regardless if it's a Performance chip for gasoline or an MPG chip for diesels.
