it does not sounds to me like something so odd, (engine) but more easy to diagnose from a good technician, only the corporate could help you get the right diagnostic, when one dealer find a way to fix an issue it is not reported how they handles it, how they find it and fix it, it is missing with jaguars, it seems like all dealers are going to the one at a time step to diagnose and they start from scratch while others are really familiar with commun issues. Just like the repair maintenance history, Jaguar do not have access to it and it is sad, but at least they may know a dealer able to diagnose or guide your dealership or at worst to send you a jag tecnician over there, but this is kind of hard to get i will say.

who advised you this battery, it is not what makes the screen acting weird?
and was the car re-programmed after the battery change?

Jaguar rattling in exhaust XKR - YouTube

i am unsure if it is the same here than on my ex 4.2 xk 2008, me when i was doing what you do on the video, i had a much bigger sounds coming from the silencer (rear silencer who reach both exhaust pipes), a part was vibrating real bad there and they are known to do this. its nice if you could respond to the questions at times, anyway good luck now.

Could you be more specific than 'bad' please? What bad thing happens if you just leave the car parked in P with no hand brake? Like I said, I've been doing it for over 30 years with nothing bad (I know of) thats happened yet...

what I know is i heard some people at the time i was hanging on the xj forum, some do not even release the brake pedal, then the gearbox to park, then they set the parking brake and then they release the brake pedal.

I always done this. I never heard or fell the gearbox tapping. I do not feel good at all leaving without the parking brake.

if i don't do that and park on a hill or so, even on flat, my gearbox will crank and tapp, I do care. I will not do this even one day, you did it 30 years you see...good for you but i will never change what I do.

I can never remember to use the parking brake on the XKR (I've always used it on other vehicles, manual and automatic). I think the worst thing about not using your electronic parking brake every now and then is that it might not work anymore when you need it!

OK, guys. I have a fresh round of videos. I spent part of the afternoon with the XKR on ramps trying to figure out the sources of various noises I've been complaining about.

This is me hitting various parts of the exhaust/muffler with the back of a rubber-ended plumbers wrench.

Here is a video of the loose undertray. I thought if I fixed this, maybe it would've solved my strange drivetrain popping/creaking sound. I replaced two nylon nuts (similar to those pictured below) and now the undertray is nice and tight!

And the grand finale, and in my opinion, the most serious problem I have--the popping/creaking sound that seems to be drivetrain related. In the video, I am accelerating in forward and reverse from a stop pretty aggressively, which seems to allow the creaking/popping to manifest itself. This seems to be the same sound that occurs when I downshift aggressively using the paddle shifters in sport mode.

On the bright side, I did not find any fluid leaks of any kind on the undercarriage of the car. I looked at the transmission, engine and differential. Woohoo!

Well, she's in the hands of the dealership now! I hope they can figure this out...

Son of a gun. The dealer claims that ALL my issues are normal. They won't cover the touchscreen freezing occasionally. They claim my transmission is working normally when it won't blip the downshifts. Claims the noise I'm hearing in the drivetrain is the brakes. Many people on the forum have suspected brakes, but I'm still skeptical.

They, at least, are not charging me anything. So I'm back to square one again.

Default The mechanics

Do they attribute the downshifts not blipping to anything? Software error? limp mode? Diff fluid needs a change?

If it happens and self corrects that's one thing but they should at least explain the causes.

Well, they couldn't replicate my issue. Which is understandable. However, I sent the service advisor videos that I took and I doubt she ever looked at them.

I think I am just going to go to an indie shop or get a Mongoose clone and reset the transmission adaptations without the dealer.

In fact, I'll probably solve all these problems myself or via an indie shop since the dealer seems clueless or doesn't care about my issues.

Just got the car back. I feel like I am blowing the problems with this car out of proportion. It really does drive wonderfully! It just has some small nitpicky items wrong with it, and I suppose that's really not for the dealer to have to sort out.

The only way I'd have time to do that is if I faked being sick for a couple days. Hmmmmm....

Most of the engine sounds went away when the weather got warm. Especially the whirring sound (which I suspect was some sort of bearing or pulley?). Power steering is nice and quiet now.

I will re-evaluate once it gets very hot outside. I suspect I am having the "A/C leaking onto the floor" issue but I won't know until the weather gets more humid and hot.

if you have a year of warranty maybe you have some time to do it, it is not covered or is it in case it happened? one day i emailed to a few jags tecnicians in Uk looking at jaguar pages dealership, the main ones, and they have been very helpful, specially if you have some videos. Maybe if you knew they will not have to search. and really if you do have a book i am sure the last place who serviced it might know.

I don't know if your steering is set up like my X type but mine moans also, They say the fix is fluid flush then a special additive that fixes the noise, some seal is getting hard,Just a thought.
