Time for a new soft top. Anyone played around with colors?
So it's time to replace the top on my Lunar Gray XKR, and I'm toying with the idea of going with a contrasting color instead of the original black. The interior is a dark Truffle Brown. Had ChatGPT do a quick rendering of both and can't quite decide. Anyone have strong opinions one way or the other?

I'm trying to get a replacement fabric.. but Jaguar does not sell them anymore.. does not have them in stock and as such.. 3rd party it is.. not sure how that will hold up with the rear window and such.. but we'll see.. I'm going from a grey version (apparently they did exist) to a full black one on my White XK
When I did this for my silver XK.. it looked like brand spanking new

I find my eye is drawn towards the light top, it makes the car stand out in a crowd. On the other hand, I find that light tops tend to make a car look ‘more girly’. So, mixed opinions on the switch.
The fabric is Haartz Twillfast RPC, and it looks just like the original factory fabric. It fits perfectly. They also have it in Brown. Here's the link: https://oemplusautotops.com/shop/?fi...er_color=brown
I suggest you call them and order fabric samples.
I did this a year are so back it may help you with your decision,
I went with Tops on Line, Gahh Top and a new headliner, the headliner didn't fit as well but is okay.
Good luck
Well, I did my “deep dive” into convertible tops for a replacement top.
Naturally, should anyone else have any better information or have had their convertible top replace please share their experiences.
Based on the 2013MY Brochure has the top color as “beige”. While there is some conflicting information from site to site I believe that Tops On Line & EZON offer the best possible solutions. Anyone have any expeiernces with these? I have requested some info from Harrtz and Bass, but they haven’t got back with me Choices are: Harrtz is Twillfast RPC, but labeled as Pebble Beige. See link: https://www.haartz.com/products/twillfast-rpc GAHH is the German A5 labeled as Gray Beige. Some sites only offer in Black EZON also has a plain Twillfast in Lt Oak and also seems to be a tight weave fabric. Tops On Line Offers GAHH Brand , Robbins, and a German A5 https://www.topsonline.com/model/Con...nvertible.html EZON Convertible tops https://ezonauto.com/convertible-top...vertible%20top Offers the Twillfast RPC in Pebble Beige German A5 in Cream Robbins site offer this information which was helpful: https://robbinsautotop.com/color-swatch-512#home But their OEM page didn’t have a listing for any Jaguars past 2006, go figure!
We have 2 shops the local jaguar dealer recommends in my area that I plan to visit and see what the have to offer and probably choice which one I will have it done at. Not really setup to take on this large of project.
@djhaydel It's interesting that you listed every convertible top retailer except the one I used and recommended in my Post #6, above: OEM+ Auto Tops. Their "Perfect Fit Guarantee" says it all: "We produce convertible tops that are as close to the original as possible." That was my experience.
I decided to play it safe with a "Titan Gray" top from OEM Plus Tops. Used a recommended local installer and got it done for $2500 all in. Quality is great and I think the gray fabric is a nice change from the original black. A couple of before/after pics:
