Default Tips on rear wheel bearing replacement

I have been tracking down the cause of the noise while driving on my 2014 XKR 5.0
I am now thinking it is a rear wheel bearing. That being said does anyone found a method to replace them without buying the special jaguar tools, or having a Jag shop do the work? I am allergic to spending money on maintenance I can perform myself.

Thank you in advance
Chazz

the 5.0 required the bearing to be pressed out and obviously the new one to be pressed back into the hub unlike the 4.2 which is simply bolt in .....have you got a press ???

Default Yes

I do have a press in my garage, my biggest concern is getting it off the axle. The shop manual warns about using a hammer and I’m not sure if a puller could get it loose. The other concern when pressing the bearing in if there are any tricks to make sure it goes in straight.

the shop manual has a lot of warnings
i really appreciate your response, it leads me to believe it can be done

Put the new bearing in the freezer overnight & heat the hub with a blowtorch then she'll drop straight in.

So can you describe the noise you are experiencing and under what operating conditions do you hear it?

its a rhythmic “groan” which gets louder and faster as speed increases. I don’t feel any vibrations from it. When I turn to the right it gets quieter.

I started taking the drivers side (US /left) rear apart but got nervous trying to remove the wheel hub assembly off the axle shaft. I also noticed my toe end rod ball joint dust cover was torn.
I put everything back together and ordered a pair of tie rods with ball joints.
how do you recommend removing the hub from the axle when I get around to doing the process again?

Some times you can tap the axle back in to release it from the hub plenty of penetration spray and use a drift otherwise you'll need to order a hub remover

thank you I will give that a shot. The shop manual made me really nervous about how to remove it.

I identify as a cheap ******* when it comes to automotive repair. The nice thing about the Jag is when I do a repair properly it feels extra good. I’m looking to have that extra good feeling when I fix this noise

Always come out with that sense of accomplishment and fulfillment when you're able to work on your own vehicle)))

If it's only the dust cover is torn but the joint is fine you can buy replacement boots.
