I put new TPMS sensors I purchased from OE Wheels in my new 20" wheels. I chose to leave the original sensors in my factory rims so it would be easier to switch back if needed. The car accepted the new sensors within about 2 miles and the warning disappeared. Unfortunately, approximately 250 miles later the "TPMS System Fault" warning came on and has stayed on for another 100 miles or so. Before I take it back to the wheel shop to verify that the sensors didn't come loose, I wanted to ask for any advice possible to remedy the situation first. Is there anyway to reset the system to allow it to re-learn the new sensors? Is it possible to determine whjch wheel(s) aren't paired? When I previously was forced to run a tire without a sensor installed,(an unfortunate carwash experience where they snapped the stem clean off...), the fault showed which wheel was not mounted with a sensor. This time it just reads as a system fault. I guess I could have a bad or dead sensor, but they were right out of the box three weeks ago. The fact that the car learned these sensors for almost a full tank makes it hard to believe that it would be a compatibility issue at this point. So, I'm left with the idea that the installation wasn't completed and a sensor has come loose. Although, I would then expect the specific sensor to be identified.

 

You may want to check the receivers which are under the fender liners directly in front of the wheels. You can access them by removing 3 or 4 screws and pulling the liner back. They may have come unplugged.
If they are still bolted in the wheel then they have not come loose.

 

Although I have never seen one in person, there are handheld TPMS readers that a tech can hold next to a tire and read the serial numbers with. Find a shop with that device, and they should be able to tell you which one has failed.

In fact, if I recall. I thought I heard of an iphone app that did it as well (not being a apple fan I havent dug further into it...)
