Default Transmission

I have a 2007 XK that needs a rebuild transmission and Ican not locate one. Are there any suggestions where I can have the one in the car rebuild? The car is located in East Tennessee.

Trying to understand your question...are you saying you're unable to locate a transmission specialist to repair your transmission?

In looking for a used transmission. Checkout Pacific Motors in the Detroit area. They are breakers. A second source is Jaguar Heaven in CA.

Who says you need a rebuilt one? A ZF service center? Did you ask them about a quote for repair?

My repair shop told me and cannot find a replacement. I have not heard of a ZF service center but will look for one. It appears he shop is only willing to switch out the transmission and I need a transmission shop that does repairs on the transmission.

What are the symptoms that are causing them to say the transmission needs to be replaced?

It’s not uncommon for service centers to ONLY want to replace the entire transmission with a certified rebuilt one as it’s quite easy to do compared with performing a rebuild in house.

Have you tried AAMCO transmission rebuild service in Knoxville? I know they’re a national chain BUT they do have a lot of experience with rebuilding ZF transmissions fitted in JLR vehicles. Also a specialist named Marshall Transmission Service claim to the the oldest and largest rebuilder in Knoxville with the ability to service European marques.

Im not endorsing anyone just sharing what I’ve found.

I received an error code and the transmission stopped shifting. The error code was for the pressure control solenoid control. One problem that could relate to that code was low transmission fluid. The transmission was just serviced due to a transmission pan leak. The shop reported that it was 1 and a 1/2 liters low. They filled it up and stated that the transmission is still slipping and needed to be replaced.

I am picking it up on Monday since they cannot locate a rebuild transmission and hope to find another transmission shop.

Could simply be the mechatronics which's quite easy to R&R with the pan off. Since it's such a commonly fitted transmission to so many marques there's quite a few specialists services available for just this.

Here's one for only $300 on Amazon.

Amazon Amazon

There's others out there as well.
