Default Transmission adaptive learning

I just finish off doing a couple of drain and fill and change the transmission filter. I went through about 15litres of transmission fluid.

Do I need to reset the adaptive learning for the transmission? If so how do you do it without the SDD software?
Or do I just drive it normally until the transmission ECU adapts to my driving style?

I know on the BMW with the same 6 speed auto transmission you need to reset the adaptive learning, I'm not sure if this needs to be done on the Jag.

Ps : the transmission is so silky smooth, its hard to determine which gear I'm in.

Looking forward to a response from those who know. As was explained to me, the TCM is adaptive. And unless the Mechatronic Valve Block has been serviced, there is no need to reset the TCM. Fluid changes do not require TCM reset.

However, I do note that if you throw U300004A, that
” Re-configure the TCM using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system“ is right out of the Workshop manual.

I can confirm that a hard reset doesn't reset the TCU

These peeps do one but it's not cheap at £400 (£300 after discounts), once used it's apparently keyed to your VIN

So if I do a sluggish drive I reset the box

I know as I have one

It will eventually adapt on its own and no downtime. A few specialists recommend no adaptation reset unless hard parts replaced and I tend to agree.

You can clear adaptations with IDS or SDD. On the latter it will probably throw a fit and want you to reflash before starting.

On my BMW ZF's, several apps allow TCU adaptations reset. SDD has an adaptation reset routine, and I can't see why they wouldn't behave similarly.

I reset it with SDD after I swapped the fluid and filter, and it seemed to behave a bit differently. I took it through the looooong relearn procedure, of course. PITA. Felt fine when done.

Well, all that said, I agree that it shouldn't be reset unless hard parts are exchanged, and I don't know if the filter is a relevant hardpart. Most people really don't have the patience to do the reset/relearn and should leave it to experienced mechanics if they do it at all. So, IMHO, swap the fluid and let it relearn.

The TCU adaptation reset seems fiddly. I just did several of laps of my favourite road and gave it a good fanging. Shifting manually through the gears as well as letting the transmission do the shifting.
I'm just going to leave it at that, transmission shifts so smooth I really can't tell which gear I'm in.

Again thanks to Cambo tune, the throttle response is how the car should have came out from the factory.
