Default Trunk moved when closed

I was able to move my 11 XK coupe trunk lid up and down about an inch after going over a series of speed bumps. I then opened and closed the lid and all was fine again, does anyone know what caused this?

It was not securely latched before you went over the speed bumps!

Yes it was, I could not open the trunk lid but I could move and inch or so and after opening and closing the trunk, the trunk would not move.

Its like your car door.....sometimes you think its closed only to notice its not fully closed (wind noise, sunlight coming in etc). Both the trunk and doors have primary and secondary latching mechanisms. You only had the primary (safety?) lock engaged.

i've found it's possible to close the trunk too lightly, but have no indication it's "open" on the dash. then hit a bump and it pops loose and then i get the dash warning, and have to pull over to close it properly.

Probably almost broken from slamming it shut too hard😕You Jaguar owners don't fool me from noticing you all break more stuff on the car that could never come from wear and tear smh lol i done bought enough used Jaguars to know that they be in worst shape than a cheap car you can buy and the cheap cars be looking kept up well better than the more expensive Jag.I don't get why rich people don't know how to keep their stuff nice when they suppose to be rich enough fix stuff when it breaks.

The struts don't last forever. Worth replacing if a decade old.
