Default Tire size - help please

Hi all

I have put about 6000 miles on my 2008 XKR since I bought it 6 months ago, i remember the dealer saying that they had firted two new front tires as the exiting ones were worn.

I don't like the cheap tires they fitted and want to replace them to match the stock rear Dunlops, but i just noticed that the tire sizes are ;

Front : 255:35:20

And the Rears are : 285:30:20

This gives a different rolling circumference according to the calculators I have used on a couple of websites.

Will this have damaged something, like winding the rear diff up, or does that only apply to AWD cars ? I have a comprehensive warranty and want to get this sorted out before that expires if any damage is likely?

Thanks for your knowledge.

Also, what size should the front tires be if they are currently wrong?

All the best
Ed

Don't see how this could have damaged the rear diff...

The tire size that came with the car should be printed on your sticker inside your drivers door pillar...

But the 255/35/20 looks right to me (for the front).

Follow the factory sizes on your door jam!; otherwise your ABS will be VERY unhappy and could cause strange braking and lots of error messages.

Good Luck,
Adrian

The diameter and revolutions per mile are alot more important to AWD cars. Like rscultho said, you're look good - no worries.

Diameter changes <3% won't throw any codes or error messages.

The Appendix B at the beginning of this forum ( under https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...6&d=1280399484 ) show these sizes for both the 2007 and 2008 XKR with the 20" wheels. I have those sizes on my 2007 XKR Coupe-no problems, Dunlops as well. Sounds like the perfect pairing to me, unless I'm missing something..... that is, if the car was fitted with the 20" wheels, and the dealer only replaced the wheels with the same size as was on the car previously.

The Dunlops are quite pricey. I would see what other options are available for you and replace all four to a more economic choice. It's not like they are that superior over other brands.

Oh no. Please don't start that discussion all over agian. There is another thread dedicated to the topic of tires for XK/XKR's.
The only comment I'll make is that they are far superior to many others recommended as far as treadwear and grip. My XKR has gotten 26,000+ miles on one set, but the downside is a very harsh ride.
IMO
