Hello
I have recently taken delivery of my 2009 XKR and decided to change the battery as it was around 6.5 years old.
The battery change went just fine, but there was one lead that wasn't connected to anything. Before changing the battery I had taken the precaution of taking some photos and it appeared to already be there, unconnected. I've attached a clearer photo.
The question is, of course, should it be connected and to what? Or else what's it for?
Many thanks
Tony
That white connector is used only when transporting the car from the factory to the dealer.
Wires from that white plug connect to a relay behind the rear seats which, when activated with a power source connected to the plug, disconnects the main battery from certain functions to allow transportation from the factory to the dealer. The dealer removes the power pack as part of the Pre Delivery Inspection and leaves the plug.
@GGG Maybe there should be a sticky about this in the Electrical section of the DIY thread. Many new owners ask the same question.
This thread contained good info: Loose connector near battery
A ‘57 XK150…. very nice. I hope she gets duly exercised.
Even with that transmission, I’d be double clutching…. and getting the revs up where they need to be.

Yes, the XK150 gets used at least once every two weeks. It's the original Moss box, withoverdrive which I love. I do double declutch, but still avoid trying to engage first gear (no synchro) unless completey stopped.
