Default Video of Top Speed 165mph in Jag XKR

I just posted a video of me doing a top speed run in my '09 xkr. too bad the car is electronically limited, i'm sure it could easily go to 180+.

Speeding and going 165mph are completely different. At that speed you are covering 242 feet per second (or roughly 18 car lengths per second!). With high beams the typical distance illuminated is 450 feet. You have less than 2 seconds to see something in the road before it hits you and less than 1 second to respond to anything that is illuminated in your path. So yes, I stand behind my statement...

it's the fuel filler cap. it's been an issue since day one, but they finally changed some sensors on it and it's cleared up (6k later...)

yeah, ok. i do understand your concern about the night time driving... but,

is it ok then, to go 181 mph in a cls55 midday?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUvsI0JOizo

or 160mph in a 996 midday?

On public roads that are not high speed roads aka autobahns? Nope...irresponsible behavior on the part of the drivers regardless of the car or time of day

I would hope that our forum moderators ban this post. It is compeletly irresponsible and flat out stupid. I don't care how good of a driver that you think you are that speed on a public road is lethal for you and more importanly the mom and kids in the minivan that you fly up on. If you have testosterone issues take it to the track. That's where I am this weekend.

why would they ban a post of a link to a video of a car related to the forum? there was nothing illegal about the driving, it's on a highway with no speed limit in a country that accepts it on that road... you sound like my third grade teacher, illogical and annoying.

A-hem.

This is always going to be controversial. Personally I am against this type of thing on the public highway, unless it happens to be on a road and in a place that does not have a speed limit.

And even then, traffic conditions, must prevail.

Everyone will have their own opinion on this type of activity, and all opinions are welcome.

Just remember, please let's not descend into trading insults.

If someone disagrees with something then quite simply 'say I disagree' or 'I am against'....

I have close family ties with a Traffic Cop, and some of the horrendous messes that he has literally had to mop up, should be enough to make anyone think again.

So, keep it clean guys, and have your say if you wish to.

Of course, perhaps, 'not posting' might also be a good indication.

I rather enjoy all the videos people post. Being an officer for 15 years I enjoy not hearing about traffic laws, having to deal with them all day long.lololol.
I do like the cars and hopefully it was on a track or a speed road in Europe. The XKR is a beauty machine when all it's legs galloping hehe.

I'd really be interested in seeing a track vid of the Lexus ISF and the XKR. Did a search on YouTube and no luck.

nothing wrong with stretching a cars legs as long as conditions permit it, they are made to do this, its not a cheap mainstream car.

although you cant see if any other traffic the driver was clearly in control, was not swerving in and out of traffic, not drunk, on the phone, eating etc.

have some good, clean, safe fun and thanks for sharing it with us

Glad we have speed limits here because stuff can hit the fan very quickly at those speeds.
