Default Wanted: 2007 xk forward dash vents (de-mister vents)

Wanted: 2007 XK forward dash vents. Looking for the vents on the front partof the dash that defog. Sometimes called de-mister vents. They are black and about10 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. There is 2 of them; a left and a right.Jaguar does not sell these separately for a 2007 Jag XK. I talked to my dealerin Scottsdale, AZ and they tell me the only way they can get them is to order anew dash at a price of $2200.

So if anyone out there knows where I can acquire these to replace my cracked ones, I would be completely grateful. Used ones in good condition would also beinvited.

Thanks,

-Ted

Default Forward air vents

Hi there,

I have just had exactly the same issue on my 2008 xkr. The forward vents were very brittle and cracked in several places. I live in Dubai and think it was caused by the sun. I just had my dashboard re-upholstered and it was only when the garage removed the dashboard, that i realised the condition the vents were in.
I Went to visit my local Jaguar dealer and they also told me that these parts cannot be Purchased seperately as they are a part of the dashboard unit. If you look at the official parts manual, you will see there is no part number for these vents, (a bit of. A problem since i had. Just had my original dashboard upholstered!
Anyway to cut a long story short, i ended up repairing the the broken pieces myself by using a 2 part epoxy resin to glue them back together. This was followed by using a filler to fill the cracks. The final jobs involved sanding and respraying black.
The whole job took about 2 days including adhesive and paint drying time.
The glueing is definitely the fiddliest part, and took a lot of patience. i am glad to say though that it turned out ok in the end and are now back in the car.

The only other option i can recommend, is to get the same parts from a breakers yard, which you could then refurbish. It is quite a tough job to fix the vents also given the close proximity to the windshield.

Sorry i could not give you better news but i hope you can get these fixed.

All the best

Try U.K. breaker/salvage yards. They are advertised sometimes in "Jaguar World", and often in the UK - eBay site for Jaguar.
