Man, it is just one thing after another. What do we think this tapping sound is? Or is this a normal thing on this model?
Timing chain? Timing guide/tensioner? Exhaust? Faint and vague, I know, but more noticeable in person. .avi Video attached. Thank you all.

Had a brief tapping noise when cold started. Car hadn't been driven much in the past 3 years. Old oil. Changed it (full synthetic) and drove regularly. End of problem.

Post something on You Tube. No one with a Mac can play an AVI video. I didn't know they were still in use. Timing chain issues are common with the 5.0 model. Not your 07.

Need better video format ... I can see the video, but no sound and windows reports format is not supported.
I'd love to hear, because mine has knocked for over six years!

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my combustion chamber door.
“'Tis just some old oil,” I muttered, “tapping at my combustion chamber door—
Only this, and nothing more."

Sorry, but was just listening to Alan Parsons Project out in the shop and I couldn't resist the Poe reference... Lots of things under the hood can make a tapping noise as they start to fail, but like in the poem, it can be hard to diagnose at first. But if it gets louder, stop opening those combustion chamber doors until you get it sorted lest you find yourself talking to a bird and trying to forget and remember your beloved old car at the same time.

To isolate where a noise is coming from, I use a mechanic's stethoscope and touch it to various parts of the engine and accessories as its running until I hear the noise coming through much stronger. You can get one from Amazon or Harbor Freight pretty cheap. That will find it pretty quick.

tapping noise, at idle. Got to do better than that.
As my colleague suggests this needs to be narrowed down.

Common sources of tapping noises in an ‘07
1- supercharger coupling
2- belt tensioner
3- worn generator

Cheers.

I can give you a list of easy solutions.
1. Thicker oil
2. Add a can of Valve Medic, or STP.
3.Listen to your power steering pump.
If none help, the space between your lobe and disk of the valve is too large. Disk change means $.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I used .avi because:
".apk .avi .bin .bmp .cfg .csv .doc .docx .ecu .efi .gif .gsc .hex .hpl .hpt .html .jpe .jpeg .jpg .mov .mp3 .mpeg .mpg .msl .msq .pdf .png .pps .psd .rar .table .tun .txt .vex .wav .wmf .wmv .xls .xlsx .xml zip"
It was the only one that made sense out of all of these insanely outdated (I did try .wmv, wouldn't upload - maybe too big of filesize.) (.mov is MAC) file formats.

I replaced the oil and everything is fine now. Thank you to all who commented!
