I, too, seem to remember reading or hearing somewhere that the spats were fitted to vehicles sold with the 20" wheels, as they are wider. This post suggests the same.

My 13 XKR w/20" wheels also came with spats. I don't think my earlier XKs both with 19" wheels had spats.

Just FYI...
My XK and XKR are on 19s, so I bought the OEM rear guards that came with cars using 20" rims.

Thanks for the look at what 100 bucks can buy! No thanks, it's not like I am on gravel roads ever.

I suspect besides for protection there are some state laws that require something like this. In NYS it is illegal to have the tire outside of the vehicle fender. Vehicles that were not sold with fenders are exempted. Although I see some of these wide spacer or make believe off roaders it's just another excuse for the LEO's to pull you over and ticket you. As I mentioned in another post the police can stop you pretty much any time they want with the tons of laws we have on the books.

My 2009 XKR has them. And I suspect that few, if any, Forum members ever intentionally subject our cars to the abuse of gravel roads. If you live in snowy areas, gravel, sand, etc., that is spread to provide traction remains on the road long after the snow melts, so these spats provide some, but not much, protection. To me, they're more for style than function.

But if I didn't have them and wanted that look, I'd buy them in a heartbeat for $100 because they were designed and engineered to fit the wheel arch perfectly with the proper fasteners to prevent corrosion with the aluminum body. Sure, you might be able to fabricate something similar, but how much would you save when you take the value of your time into account?

Just my

I ran the Ford Motorsport mudflaps on my 5.0 stang because it spent some time chasing turkey's up old gravel roads trying to get to cell sites when I was doing that work. Didn't look hateful and they worked well.

@Ranchero50,
Got the spats from Jaguar. Here is the tracing of the RH spat for your use to fab them up.

Overall length is 23.5"

Don’t think so, other than it would give you a bit more room.

No they don't. But it does give you more room to work.
The car wash bent one of mine. I replaced it without taking the wheel off... there was some language involved.

Thanks. I'll give it a try without removing the wheels. And, I'll try watching the language!

As a good friend of mine said when we were elbow deep in his '69 GTO: "Cussing helps."

You know, I think your friend is absolutely right. When I'm tense (read "pissed off!") about a project not going well, a few sentences with a bunch of my favorite expletives usually does make me feel a little better.

Absolutely! The wrench won’t turn without some encouragement!
