I initially installed 20mm on the rears as well but, they were too far out for my preference. If you have to use onlye 5 or 10 mm spacers, there is a good chance that you will have to cut (shorten) the factory wheel studs as they might touch the inside of your wheels.

As to lowering. The rear of the XKs do not have any camber adjustment. Mine is set up for about 1.25 degree negative at the rears which is plenty enough for street usage. If you lower the car, depending on the suspension geometry, you're liable to get more negative camber that will tend to wear the inside tire edges.

hey all
Curious does 20 mm front and 15 mm rear still provides the best stance without having to (shorten) factory wheels studs or do any modifications others install spacer ?
Also can anybody tell me if this particular XKR in the photos with the vortex rims hasspacers? Really like the stands and look of the rims on this car.

I have the 20mm and 15mm setup and I had to saw off the ends of my wheel studs on the rear. Just the ends where there is no threads, maybe a little over 1/4" if I remember correctly.

Many of the stock style wheels have pockets between the lug holes where an exposed stud will recess. I had no problems with Toba's on my '07 XKR with a 20mm spacer.

Yes, it looks like there are spacers on the car in the pics you posted, IMO... What size I cant be sure of, but as you already know 20mm Front and 15mm Rear is what is commonly used... But, again I and others have had to take a little off the rear studs to accommodate the 15mm spacers and yes my wheels have the leave-out spaces (pockets) that ranchero referenced, but I still had to trim studs, if you went to 20mm in the rear I think you would be too far out and get into fender rubbing issues....

Maybe. Tires seem inset from the wheel lip. Much closer with spacers. It'll look lowered with spacers. Thin 20" tire and rim package has a big vertical gap that the spacers work to hide. I have over sized XJ tires on my stock Toba's and it helps fill the wheel arch. My car looks well proportioned without a crappy ride.

Front looks stock (distance from caliper to the wheel).

Just wanted to add a couple of things I’ve learned regarding spacers. I wanted to widen the track on my 2012 XKR that has OEM 20x10’s in the rear and 20x9 in front.

I have ordered 20mm H&R spacers for the front (have not installed them yet).

From what I’ve read, I think 15mm in the back will be too much with my 295 P Zero Tires. H&R doesn’t make anything smaller than 15mm in their DRM series (the type that bolts on and contains studs).

Lenny at Motorsport tech (recommended on this forum) manufacturers spacers for a variety of cars. He also won’t be able to make anything less than 15mm in the same style of spacer (stud.. with nuts). He can do a slide on spacer, but I’m unsure if that’s even safe on our cars due to the length of the stock lugs.

Any other option for a 10mm spacer? I’m going to use washers on the studs just mock up a 15mm spacer .. it may fit ok and not stick out beyond the fender.

I’ll take pics.

Hi Joe,

I think the 20mm with a 295(depending on brand and spec") on the rear is gonna be really tight. My 2010 with 15mm, stock 20s, with 285s is very close, not sure they will clear when wife loads up for a trip, we'll see.

I do have a question, you mentioned 9 and 10 factory wheel.I know of the 9" fronts and 10.5" (R-S, etc) and of course 8.5 / 9.5 normal, but I haven't seen a modern (2010-up) stock wheel that is 10"...can you school me please, Thanks!

Happy Tuesday,

Dave

Hi Dave,

The 20” Oronoa’s are 20x10.

The 15mm will be too much for my setup in back. I’ll install the 20mm on front and see how it looks.

Its easier if you look up a chart that Graham posted.
Some are even 10.5 I believe.
It might be best to wait till he reads this post and digs up that old chart.

Thank you Joe! I did not know some of the later wheels were made in 10s like that, thanks again for educating me on that!

Yeah, a 10" with 295s and my 9.5" with 285s and both with the same offset means your wheels already stick out 1/4" further, then add that 295 in the mix, I think you made a wise decision to pass on the spacers.. but if you try it, please let me know if it clears.

Have a great day,

Dave

Funny!! Pretty sure he went aftermarket. I was aware of wider factory versions, but at that price I will use these until I find the right set of R-S or R-S GT wheels. Sadly, I like the design of the Takobas better than any of the factory wider wheels, with one exception.
Story of my life, always chasing another Unicorn, grrrrrr.

Have a good one,

Dave

Oh, I found the "Chart", i was just a screen cap of the Jaguar EPC Catalog. Still no factory XK wheel shown there in 10".

But, I did find this groovy chart in my search which confirms some release dates on certain wheels, still even it doesn't have widths listed.

Keep in mind this is a UK chart, so they are "ahead" one year, example 2009 listed below is 2010MY.

Cheers,

Dave
