I currently have one OEM fob after the other got lost. I like to get a second for "just in case". I don't want to buy a cheap chinese replacement fob for my 2010 XK but also don't like being taking over the coals to purchase one at Jaguar. I definitely want OEM. Any suggestions to get an OEM fob at another source other than Jag or a competitive price at Jag? Do I need Jag to cut the key for me? I would like to get the key and I'd hope to get it reprogrammed by an Indy that has the Jaguar program. Any suggestions? Any idea of cost? Thanks. all.

You definitely need that spare key.
I got my spare OEM smart key at the local Jag dealer for full price last Spring ($275). They did comp me the programming cost which I figure would have been an hour labor or so. An Indy shop with SDD can do the programming as well.
You make try Harper’s or another discount dealer or call around to local locksmiths to see what they can do for the smart key price. My dealer did insist on seeing proof of ownership for the car so that could be an issue if buying from afar.
Emergency key is a separate item and cost me like $375 as my original key didn’t work. Key had to be cut at the factory in the motherland and, with the Covid shutdown and slow mail, Took a couple of months to get.
I did have a duplicate emergency key cut locally using a blank I got from eBay for like $7. Check with local locksmiths on cutting a 10 cut sidewinder key. Cost me $20 including fixing my original key that had the correct profile but wasn’t cut deep enough to work. So now have 3 emergency keys!
I do feel so much better knowing I have a spare key.
Good luck.

Check with Forum sponsors that sell OEM parts, such as SNG Barratt.
Also check Ebay for a used Smartkey, but make sure that it has been "cleared" and is guaranteed in writing to be programmable and returnable at the seller's expense. That's how I bought my spare Smartkey. Read this entire thread, in particular my Post #31:

I support your desire to go legit in terms of this-- I don't think the $ savings on an end-around on something like this is worth it.
Having said that, and especially since you're in Florida, I'd call every dealership within a 200-mile radius. I'd bet you'll get more of a price variation than you'd expect.
Cost-wise, I'd expect to pay $350-ish all in.

Dealers usually don't like to program non-dealer parts, and sometimes the parts 'fail' and need to be replaced with OEM while being programmed.
I also say just suck it up and go use a dealer for the whole deal.

Go to the dealer and pay the price. I bought a non-OEM on the web and an experienced locksmith could not program it. He suggested I get an OEM, so I bought a refurbished OEM for $150.00 and he could do nothing with that one either and suggested I call a dealer. I called my local dealer and they had the new key fob in 10 days and installed it in a half hour. It works perfectly. They explained that going with non-Jag fobs or used Jag fobs could mess up the car's computer. They refused to try to program the refurbed-OEM fob I bought. The new fob was $401.00 and they charged me $150.00 to program it. More than I wanted to spend but I have two keys and peace of mind.
