Default While working on the well-known dropping glovebox issue...

... I discovered an odd flexi-tube. It doesn't seem to have any wiring inside of it, although one end has electrical tape wrapped around it.

Anyone have an idea of what this is? Should I take apart more of the trim to try to trace its origin? Do I need to fix this while I have the glovebox removed already?

Thx!

First thing, put a signature block with your car details so people know what exactly we're talking about.
SOME of the 2001-2009 cars have an Aux Audio that hooks up in the box area, so that MAY be an empty wiring harness for one not installed, as sometimes happens because of production pieces.
That's my first guess.

It's weird that my signature isn't there. I created a signature with my car details and a pic of my car when I joined the forum. If I go to my signature setting in my profile I still see everything there. 🤔 Maybe it has something to do with me creating the original post from my mobile browser?

It is weird. Even changed signatures usually update for every post, even decades old. Your first post still doesn't have one while the second one does.
Weeeeeerrrrrdddddd..................

Agreeeeeeeed...

Note: My first post was done on a mobile browser in (normal) "mobile site" mode; no signature. My second post was done on my mobile browser switched into the "desktop site" mode; signature appeared. Maybe the forum site doesn't play nice with the Brave mobile browser in mobile site mode. Dunno.

I appreciate the help, though.

I don't use mobile stuff for much of anything, that's why I built a really good PC. SO much nicer, easier and way better on a PC.

Absolutely. The site is miles better on desktop PC. I just had my phone in my hand while taking the pic today so it was easier to do a quick post. Now I know that the signature issue might be in play on Mobile moving forward.

Speaking of PCs, I may have gone overboard on my latest rig. 😀

My Android phone lets me select Desktop Site by clicking the 3 vertical dots at the top right corner of the page.

I don't know if that's possible on iPhones.

Yes, click on the menu (3 bars on upper left) then select ‘View Full Site’.

I rarely, if ever, use a PC to access forums. Phone is SO handy, can catch up on threads while taking the wife shopping, or more likely during ‘constitutionals’.

Impressive! We can all be a little over the top when it comes to our PCs. BTW, I worked for IBM here in Boca for 11 years, from ‘83 to ‘94 so I’m partially responsible for PCs even being a thing.

So, was it your idea to make ‘reboot your PC’ the first step in any problem diagnosis?
