I wonder why Jaguar chose to not put a 5.0 L designation on the rear of the car as they had done with other MY. That being the case I see the 5.0 numbers on ebay and they are trying to sell them to Jaguar owners. Is this a nicety or over kill. Has anyone put them on and if so how do they look.

The Canadian and U.S. ("New") XK did not have the engine size badge, either in 4.2 or 5.0 litre form, although these badges were on cars for other markets.

We didnt get engine designation here. I bought the 5.0 designation for my XF, but that was because the V8 XF looks pretty much identical to the 4 or 6 pot. When I got the XKR I thought it was probably overkill to have the designation as well, with the quad pipes. And anyway, I didnt see anywhere on the back where it would look good, with the R on the other side to the XK.

The new XF has a confused badge, a 35t despite being a 3.0 liter.

When Jaguar introduced the 2010 here, it had both the modified style points and the 5.0L engine and Jaguar only sold the XKs in the US market with one size engine either the 4.2 for the 07-09 series or the 5.0 for 10-15 series. Hence no need for a badge defining the displacement.

I agree. With the quads and the "R" designation....anyone into cars knows whats under the hood. Also, with these cars, less is better IMHO.
