Default Performance upgrade

Hi to all
Recently just purchased my 2007 XKR lovely car so far .Has any of you done the upgrade on the supercharger pulley ? Spoken to a Jag specialist yesterday who advised its not a worth while upgrade for 10% gain also the bearings can let go on the charger he has seen with more stress doing this he advised just a cat back exhaust is the most popular upgrade .

I have done both and had it lowered. I haven't had it on a dyno to see the hp increase but that super charger has a sweet sound when you hit it.

Had mine done and went for 10% 2.5lb pulley,

The snout of the supercharger had to be filed down by 2mm all round for the small pulley. I bought the pulley of powerhouseuk. They told me it could be fitted without removing the supercharger , but it is impossible to get a good job done this way and would have caused a mess.
The guy who done it for me (Ken) took the supercharger off to do a professional job. The coolant had to be drained and throttle body taken off and another few pieces. The supercharger belt still fitted when the work was finished.
I had mine remapped as well by Black Code Remapping.

The only mod i had was the performance exhaust. Top end is near the same ,but lower end is astonishing. The slightest touch of throttle and it's gone. Seems to change up the gears quicker and smoother. The power up to 3,000 revs is massive. It's just hard to describe, simply amazing.

I wouldn't let anyone put you off if you want to do something, its you car after all. Some of them Jag specialist don't know one end of a Jag from the other, only what they see on a computer. Went to a reputable Jag dealer here in ireland and was enquiring about the speed pack kit that came on the 2008 RS model, they never even knew that model of car existed. I had to show them a picture from a web site.
Anyway if you're still in 2 minds, the guys i bought the pulley of Powerhouse UK can supply and fit and tell you anything you want to know.

I doubt there is much data out there for how many supercharger bearings have failed from the increased RPM from a smaller pulley, especially from Jaguar. In theory, the more use something has, the faster it will wear, but I have not heard of anyone here on the forums with issues from this mod. Also look at Corvette forums, they have the same super charger we do and there are way more Corvette owners with this mod as well.

Before you do any mods. Get a dyno reading. It would be interesting to see how much of the original power you have. If nothing else it will validate the mods.

One of the cheapest and most essential mods overlooked is cleaning the system. Would you believe in average cars you can get 4 to 10hp just by cleaning the MAFs

good stuff, i would also organise to get the car remapped after pulley change, i'm sure you can locate a reputable agent near you.Doesn't take long and could be done at powerhouse uk. Then you'll see an unreal difference.

There are many threads on the value of a remap. Have a look at the outcomes.
As "Queen and Country" suggests, get a dyno before the job to establish a baseline.

Looking forward to an exciting outcome for you.

not enough do this and then no-one knows whether a mod was worthwhile.

I'm with you gh27, i would never dyno my car, to many issues of things going wrong. All i know you will see a vast difference in the performance. I have the Elite RR full system which was on the car when i bought it. It's one if not the best i've heard.

Whatever you do with the exhaust, get an x-pipe or crossover in the center section, probably the most beneficial exhaust mod you can do besides a 100/200 cell catalyst.

Check the 40 second mark in particular!

That's a very tame noise, no noise of any pop or crackle that we all love,no comparison to the Elite, ive no x-pipe or crossover, it has one centre box, no need for it.

Should be interesting, good luck with it, heres a vid of my exhaust taken some time ago , must get an up to date video done of better quality and from outside. It was taken from inside the car on a regular smart mini phone, but you'll get the idea.
