Any one listen to both? I have the Premium Bose in my 07 and am underwhelmed.

 

I doubt that there is much of a difference at all. I have listened to both and didn't notice a difference. However I was not conducting the most scientific test. As far as I know the speakers are different but the head unit is the same.

 

My 07' has the 525 watt premium Alpine system in it. I think it sounds great but I am not one to rattle windows in homes while I pass by. I find the clarity great along with bass where it should be. Compared to systems in both my BMW's, it far exceeds them.

 

My Wilkes is not loud enough with top down - under impressed...

 

My 2006 had Alpine system and my 2008 has Bowers Wilkins Stereo and I do think the sound is better with the Bowers Wilkins

 

The Bowers system is better in Dolby mode. A lot louder. The quality of the MP3 makes a difference. If you use an i pod turn up the volume settings on the Graphic equaliser settings in the Pod. The sound is brill; it’s the interface that sucks.
It’s like a Sinclair 1980’s computer in the XKR. My wife has a new E class Merc. The system in that is a million times better at finding songs and tracks, etc. The sound is not a patch on the Jag’s Bowes though.
