In my opinion this is the best adhesive to use:
It is important to use it with the matching primer. Holding for me over a year now. |

Hi Guys,
Well the rest of the story. The bottom of my window released completely so yesterday I ordered a new top from a local convertible top purveyor for $1800 delivered and installed. Its from GAHH and has the life time warranty for the window. Should have it in about 10 days. Hope we don't get any heavy storms here on the Treasure Coast. Cheers to all. I would have rather spent the bucks elsewhere. Thoughts or experience anyone? |
Jaguar service bulletin lists Teromix 6700. New name is Teroson PU 6700 DC. This is a two-part polyurethane. Jaguar dealer will sell it to me for $51 per tube. Can't find a U.S. distributor or U.S. equivalent. Dealer quoted me $7,300 for a new top.

this product has worked well for me. you will need the surface cleaner and applicator gun

Top Window & remote top switch.
I went with EZ top which has a lifetime warranty on the window as well. The price was $1,600 plus a $100 surcharge for the same German fabrick as the original equipment. The top looks great, window is obviously better installed than the original equipment. Only problems so far are the internal bows need to have replacement stretch chords to hold them in place when raising. Also, some problem getting the headliner to Velcro properly back around the window. Installer will complete these things next week free of charge. All in all I am happy. No one would be able to tell it is not original.
Unrelated, last year I installed the remote module from the Jag Wrangler. It is the coolest thing to have on the car. You can drop with the key from about 30 feet away. Also, provides one touch raise and lowering with the inside switch and you can drop the back windows with the top up. 5 hours of hard work but worth it. Biggest problem was installing with the top and windows up. Very tight space for a 67 year old! |
I can find the Teromix 6700 online for about $20. I have the deep reach clamps that can reach far enough (my top is separated on the bottom and sides). Where can I find the necessary gun to apply the adhesive?

Don't hold your breath. My dealer won't attempt the repair (separation too long). Quoted me $7,300 for a new top.

I have a 2010 Jaguar XKR Convertible, the rear window has unseated itself who fixed yours please call at 813-641-2223 or email at sandowr@msn.com
thanks, Bob |
Got home after a drive with the top down, put the top up and parked in the garage and noticed that the top fabric was separated from the glass along the bottom edge of the outside only. The sides and top edge appeared to be OK.
Based on WhiteXKR's recommendation, I just ordered the 3M adhesive and primer together with the 6-pack of clamps. I'll let you know how my DIY repair works. |
Stuart S - does the top fabric shrink? I took mine by a repair place and guy said it could not be glued. Think he just did not want to do? Has not been apart for long.
|
I had two shops tell me they did not want to attempt gluing the window either. HAGG top install quoted at $2600.

What's the harm in trying the DIY fix? I'm not a mechanic, but it's alot easier than installing WhiteXKR's remote top kit. My top is still in excellent condition, except for this separation. If it works, I saved $1,000. If it doesn't, I lost under $100. I'll take those odds. Here's my progress so far. Waiting for the adhesive, primer, and clamps to arrive from Amazon. Taped to try to stop any further separation. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...9052acfba4.jpg |
DIY worked just fine here
I followed the steps provided in the tech bulletin posted in this forum and DIY for an extensive repair has worked just fine. I expect longevity from the repair, so far so good, and we are top up-down 2-3 times a week. I plan to replace the top when it is showing signs of wear. Other than the window separation issue it is in great shape.

sorry for the delayed response, I had ordered from Amazon.

If not, you could have had the dealer install a brand new top and saved over $8,000. P.S. I notified Amazon that the price appears to be a typo. |

I won't need a mixing dispensing gun because I'll be using the 3M product recommended by WhiteXKR, which is a single stage adhesive that can be applied with a conventional caulk gun. |
