Default X150 chassis

Hi All,

I was wondering where does the X150 XK chassis comes from? Was it a Ford chassis made in aluminum? XJ (X350) derived chassis?

Thanks,

The whole body is an aluminium monocoque with much of the structure being load- bearing.

In my opinion, the X150 is a DEW98 chassis, albeit an aluminium variant, like the X350 XJ, the X351 XJ and the X152 X-Type.

With so many suspension, steering, brake and other components interchangeable, also with the S-Type and XF, they are all DEW98 based.

It's similar to the DEW98 but I don't think it has the same genetics. I was surprised that the XKR has steel suspension mounts while the Lincoln LS uses aluminum substructures. Suspension is very similar. Drive line is Jag with the exception of the hybrid 8.8" pumpkin on the LS.
The XKR has an all aluminum body while the LS is steel unibody with aluminum skins (roof, hood, fenders, door skins). The LS handles amazingly well for a 4 door coupe.

Just some things I've noticed from dealing with both.

I loved my wife's LS, but I could never deal with the wonky way the Climate Control was set up, with four solenoids and coolant valves. I could never get more than moderately-warm air to discharge from the heater.
