Im sure this will have been dealt with in the past so I apologise in advance but as a newbie has anyone found a replacement radio antenna to replace the external oem aerial??

Aerial/antenna same difference.

It may help if you stated what's wrong, cable broken, motor runs but doesnt go up, motor doesn't run.

If the first two theor are jag repair kits, if third you may need a whole new unit.

Also add your car to your signature strip as it makes giving advice less time consuming.

Hi MarkyUK thanks for your response, sorry I didn’t make myself clear, there’s nothing wrong with my aerial but I’m not a fan of the existing aerial and would like to fit a hidden one, so wondered if anyone had done this

Yes it is possible 2 ways:

1) Buy the later 'bumper hidden aerial and retrofit this and pay a bodyshop to fill your hole (ooeer missus!). If you do a forum search you'll find several where this has been done.

2) Sell yours and buy a later car with it fitted.

You could also go with a marine antenna and either lay it around the out edge of the trunk, or modify your existing spoiler to put it inside (sort if like the later cars). See this thread for options/ideas:

I replaced my mast antenna with the later in-spoiler-antenna with amplifier. It works fine. My old antenna worked, and normally I don't mind a mast, but it was 3 mm too long for my garage, so started bending, and it gave quite a lot of wind hiss.

There's no need to get a bodyshop to fill any holes, there's even no need to remove spoiler, with some dexterity it can be done through a removed 3rd brake light.

There's a thorough thread on the UK forum, I can get you part# etc if you want. It's worth doing.

I did this modification. First, thanks to Rhyl46, if he hadn't done this sticky I would have spent twice the money and time trial and error'ing...
I did have one problem, I couldn't really get the spoiler off, and I didn't want to use too much force on the plastic fasteners. In the end I installed the antenna without removing the spoiler, just inserted through brake light hole, stucked to the inside spoiler roof. I placed it slightly to the left, because I also wanted to use/share the hole that the wire for brake light used, so no drilling.
Using the brake light hole meant that the wire coming out, to the amp, was shorter, so I had to place the amp closer than on other pictures. And there I got lucky, I found two holes to use, so no drilling that day at all... The left arrow is the bolt and nut holding the amp to the plate (and also used for the ground wire) and the right arrow is the end of the bracket. The other end of the bracket, with hole and 90 degree bent tap, is not used, so I cut them off.
So this can be done without removing spoiler and without drilling. Thanks

I have a 2007 XKR convertible and I replaced the whip antenna on mine very easily. The spoiler is the same throughout the years. After 2007 they moved the antenna into the spoiler. I bought a small generic antenna designed to be hidden in the interior of a car. Look for a narrow one (sorry I don't have the exact model because it was years ago, look on Ebay) it fit right inside the spoiler. The only other thing I had to buy was a connector adapter from the European connector to US, also available on Ebay or other sources. It was cheap to do. Don't even look at the price of the Jaguar OEM antenna unless your wallet is very full!!!! Works great. Some people go to the extra trouble of removing the old antenna and filling in the hole but I just left mine intact.

I removed the original and replaced it with a 3in stubby. It looks good, covers the hole, and works OK. It’s short so expect the reduced reception but it works fine if you live near the city. No wind noise like the original and no maintenance.
