New guy here.... very much interested in a removable hardtop for the xk8 convertible as the convertibles are more available than the coupes. I have to sell my 86 el camino before I can buy a jag. I prefer the coupe but again, comvertibles are more plentiful and cheaper! In researching this issur I did come across a hardtop offering and a fiberglass tonneau cover for the rear seat. Unfortunately when I tried to check them out I couldn't find them and....they are supposedly horribly expensive. Anyone knowing where to find the hardtop please post a good link. Thanks guys!

You've posted in the X150 forum but you are researching for an XK8 (X100). You'll need to search there if that is the case.

As for X150 there is only the Mina Galleries "Speed Humps" that cover the rear seat. Searching "Speed Humps" should lead you to discussions on that. Those are not offered on the Mina web site but you can contact them & they can fill you in on ordering. I seem to remember the cost was well under $300 for one though.

Alas, I can't help you with a removable hard top though.

Interference with the automatic pop-up rollbars may be one of the reasons why the factory never offered a removable hardtop.

My BMW 328i has pop-up roll bars and they do offer a removable hardtop. However, that may well be the reason that Jag never offered one.

I'm sure if someone wanted to spend the time and money it could be done. I assume it would be a fiberglass unit made over the canvas top as the base mold. I don't think the roll bars would be the problem. Because you would leave the soft top in the stowed position I would think it would deteriorate over time and to remove it would be an issue but as I mentioned anything is possible. Is it practical well it's up to the person who wants it.

I agree that anything's possible with enough money, but why would you replicate the shape of the convertible top when the coupe's roofline is so much sexier?

I'm sure that Fantomworks can create a removable fastback hardtop for the X150 convertible just like they did for the 1963 Corvette convertible with the split window.

I see pictures of the xk8 with an aftermarket hard top....what I can't find is where it's sold. I followed all the usual links and even wrote one company and so far nothing. The picture I saw was a silver convertible with a hardtop. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I found one for an older jag like an xk150 (not sure of the model). Al

I'll probably catch some hell, but I like the roof line of the convertible more than the coupe. I'm not a fan of huge greenhouse glass hatchbacks.

What roofline? It's perfect without one!

Thanks
Arden used to make one. https://www.google.com/search?q=jagu...ybW1BmfHNc9uM:
