I purchased a 2006 4.2 XK Coupe a coule of weeks ago and within a week the parcel shelf on the tailgate kept dropping out.

On closer inspection it was clear that the top clamps were not holding the shelf in place.

To resolve this I removed the shelf and unscrewed the clips / clamps that hold the shelf in place. I could see that the holes the clamps went through in the shelf had become enlarged and as such were too big for the small washers to grip the shelf when the clamp was applied.

I located some larger washers and placed theses ever side of the shelf hole, passing the clamp bolt through them and fixing the nut on top.

The result is a rock sold fit with no issues!
