Everyone has an opinion, I really dislike black wheels. When shiny and clean with a stationary vehicle as their display they look 'ok'. Get the car rolling, throw on a little brake dust and I do my best to look at something more pleasing.

I have made a command decision. That is after listening to you guys, a visit to Beatham Jaguar restorers in my hometown, and my own gut feeling. The risk of breaking one of those 56 studs is high, so I will leave them in and repaint the wheels. It will be fine, no-one will notice. And the repaint will be the original mag wheel colour, always best to stay with the original.
Thanks to you all for your input, much appreciated.
Well, I had my wheels repaired and painted. The painter masked out every single stud. Yeah, it cost a bit for his labour, but they look stunning. The original colour of course.

It seems I must renew my rear tires for the next inspection. By vehicle is a 2008 XK and it has "Federal 20 inch" at the present. I am sure that some of you have experience in the selection of new rubber, can someone help me choose from the multitude of brands.
I treat my car like the grand old lady that she is, however that gorgeous V8 does need a workout from time to time, so I have been known to have a bit of a hoon.

Hi Trevor from New Zealand, this is Geoff from new Zealand.
I have had my XK convertible 5 years. It came from Japan with old Continentals and the rears were the first to go and due to COVID I could only get Michelin, then when the fronts went (perished) I was able get Continentals MaxContact MC6 and they are still on the car in good condition having done 25-30 thousand Kilometers. I did 40 thousand Kilometers on the Michelin rears and a year ago replaced them. I planned to get Contenentals again but they no longer import that size into NZ! On the reccomendation of my local independant I fitted Hankook and while they don't have the same very high speed rating as the Contenentals, but I hardly ever "hoon" and the price was very reasonable. To be honest all 3 brands have served me well, but the Hankooks have a better "ride" in my opinion, but then every driver is different, so each to their own. Hope this helps
I have just read your posts re wheel refurbishment> I had mine done a few months ago at Mag Master in Tauranga thanks to bloody potholes 2 wheels needed to straightened so went for that and repaint. Kevin removed all the stainless steel cosmetic bolts and tumbled them, said it made the job easier. Chose a blue/silver colour to match car. Next job is to paint calipers and rusty wheel centre dark blue.
Car needs a wash

Thanks Geoff from New Zealand. I am in Hawke's Bay; I'd love to meet you sometime. A member of our Jaguar Club here.
My fronts are NFERA, thanks to potholes, last year. I have never heard of them but recommended by my tire shop. I have had Hancook's before, a lot cheaper than some. Mine are 285/30ZR20.
Cheers and thanks for the reply.

PS, my Jaguar is red.
Not to digress, but are you pleased with the remote top addon?
Not even sure it is still available as the posts about it are from ages ago.
Best mod to can make to a convertible. Be sure to include the rear quarter window control option as well, you won’t be sorry.
Yes the kits are still available.
This week I sold my beautiful Jaguar XK. I never thought I would see it disappearing down my driveway, I always said it was a keeper, for ever. But it had done 120,000ks and starting have things go wrong.
So I bought a 2016 low kilometer, (19,000ks) F-Type convertible. Red.
I love it too but I have fond memories of the 5 years I had my XK.

So, I want to know...
when I drove an F-type is was too cramped for my liking.. I am 6'1 210
and too hard on my prostate, rough stiff ride...
What do YOU think????
When I bought my XK I was looking at the F-type..
my wife said HELL no.......
not even close as good as the 3 previous XK's she said
I found the F Type convertible has a horrible blind spot to the rear quarters with over-the-shoulder collision avoidance with the top up. Top down is kind of gross with a fabric tonneau also.
6-1 and 175 the interior is not horrible, but it'd take some getting used to.
Actually, even at my height, I cannot adjust the seat in an F Type to the perfect comfort/visibility/driving position that I prefer. Besides, it looks too much like all the other modern cars to me...
Sure has enough punch though.

It was disappointing to me when the dealer gave me one for a week...frequent buyer...
:-) @HealeyJag I like your comment.
My father and I had a phrase we learned in his e-type... only real men master the double clutch of the 4 speed/
And yes, very fun to drive. in the right conditions.

Yes..not a good retirement only fun car in Florida..
The XK's are getting old, mine had done 120,000ks. At 86 I am over old cars, hence my 19,000ks F-Type.
So I will keep it till they take my license away. We have a renewal every two years in New Zealand after 80, and they are very tough. If you get a young examiner who doesn't like old people driving, you are screwed.
In the meantime, I love my F-Type, I guess it will see me out.
