First time user. I want to have my 2009 XK wheels de-kerbed and painted. Question is. Can I remove the 14 cap screws around the perimeter? It is going to very hard to paint the wheels with them in place. Love my XK. I was going to sell it and buy a F-Type, but I can't bear to part with my old modern day classic. I am going to be cremated in it one day. I live in New Zealand, plenty of XK's here, mostly Jap imports.
If you’re talking about those studs around the Senta wheel, yes, they just unscrew. The shop that refinished my wheels removed the studs, then put them back in afterwards.
The titanium bolts in three piece split rim alloys can be difficult to remove but the decorative ones in one piece rims are a lot easier.
X100 SEPANG - Split Rim
X150 KALIMNOS - one piece
My wheel specialist refurbished both sets of these for me and removed the bolts in the process. They fitted new bolts to the Split Rim wheels but re-used the ones in the Kalimnos.

So the Senta's don't split. It looks like the bottom pic that Graham posted are Sentas
Sorry @guy , but that picture is of a Senta wheel, just like I have on my car. But you are correct, the bolts on both types are just cosmetic and removable.
The pic is of my wheels, can you just spell it out for an old guy. What are my wheels and are my rim bolts removeable.? ....... This is a pic of my wheels. Can you spell it out for an old bugger. What are my wheels and are the rim bolts removable? Cheers, Trev
Trev,
As stated above, that is a SENTA wheel and the bolts are removeable. The one on my green X150 is a KALIMNOS.
It looks like you have standard rubber valves and not the metal ones fitted on vehicles with TPMS. See the TPMS version (arrowed in green) on my F-Pace RAZOR wheel for comparison.
Thank you so much, I was a bit too nervous to remove them. I did try one tentatively and it was too to budge with my handyman tools. I will get an impact driver.
I really appreciate your help with this, my car will look smarter.
I haven't done anything yet but thank you for the heads up. I will consult the handbook for info on what I should do. I did have the front tires changed, thanks to a pothole, should I have done anything about that?

Trev,
Check the wheel perimeter for distortion. If the impact was sufficient to ruin a tyre, you will be lucky if the wheel hasn't been bent. This is the inside of the LH front wheel on my XK:
It had been noted on the annual safety inspection (MoT in the UK) as an "advisory" and not a fail so replacement was not essential. However, the tyre was losing around 1 psi pressure each month when the other three wheels remained constant so I replaced the wheel.
My F-Pace must have had a similar issue before I purchased it. The wheel had clearly been filled and refinished:
Once I'd noticed this, I saw it every time I walked up the the vehicle so I replaced this wheel too. Again, not essential but I hate having faults on a vehicle.
Thanks for that tip, I rushed out and had a good look at mine, no damage, whew. I am also a pilot, (yeah at 84), so I know all about taking notice of defects and doing something about them. Thanks again for your interest.

Trev, that's great you are still driving an XK at 84. I've got 13 years to get there - I hope the only problem I have with my XKR is tire trouble at that time..
I actually nearly was a traitor to my XK. I followed a 380 F-Type hooning down a back road, and thought, "I have to have one of those". I located a good low ks red one and started negotiations. Then I thought, Hang on, I adore my XK, (also red), it would break my heart to see someone else driving it. So I withdrew my interest. Now I am going to shout my "Big Red" a wheel tidy up job and a repaint, and I am going to have them painted black. With red they will look stunning.

I tried out an F type while I was getting my XKR serviced at the local dealership. They look nice and pretty quick. Once I got back in the XKR to drive home I noticed the "quality" and feel was not there in the F type - really a smaller sports car vs a GT.
Yeah, it is the specialness of the XK that I love. Some more advice please. Seeing my wheels need repainting I am toying with painting them black. See the picture of a later model one. I thinks it looks stunning; but I would love some of your opinions. Perhaps it is another Love/Hate thing.
