8K for a loan is pretty cheap. I think you'd be able to pay that off in 2-3 years. 36 months is like $250 a month. Heck, I would budget $250 a month for maintenance on an XKR.

They want the lambs to believe that.
Think of it this way, all of the wealthiest people and companies take out maximum loans they can and then some, that's what a stock is.
Because the premise is that Apple or Microsoft can gain more from that money than the interest paid out.
Someone is giving you money to enjoy your life now.
Guess the only loan you cant get!!, no one will give you more time when you are old.
The wise checkout owing.

Heck look at how many loans Donald Trump has. Michael Cohen took out a mortgage to pay hush money. You may never have to pay for it if you drive a jaguar??

If a car speaks to you and the loan won't put you outside your means, the amount will not matter. And when you're ready for more, it will be there for the taking. See my signature; it is so, so worth it.

I'd do a 4.2l //R and be happy. I'm still South of $13k all in and it still need paint but as Q+C says "you only live once'. So live a little and quit waiting for your 'perfection'.

Argument for more power: You waste less time waiting for the next turn. :-D

I'd go for the final iteration the XKR. The interior finishing touches are nicer and I prefer the horizontal vents over the vertical ones. The vertical ones really speak a small era in Jaguar styling FWIW. Prices are attractive across the XK range for all years.

That ought to be the 11th commandment.

Yeah everyone's right: just get yourself into an XKR somehow and leave it as is. I prefer 2010 and newer but the older certainly has its fans as well.

Here's another tip that I ended up experiencing this summer: if you get "used to" your car... get yourself in a situation where you're driving another car for a few months. (for me, it was a Honda Ridgeline). I PROMISE YOU you will have that "Holy ****!" feeling all over again for at least a week when you get back in your XKR.

I get that from just driving normal to flogging it on occasion. Totally different animal.

A 2nd set of wheels with crazy high performance tires is a good mod. In New England it's either 2 sets of wheels or compromise on all seasons. I'd take the 2 sets of wheels every time. Dedicated summer and winter tires.

Lived in Boston for decades (drove a cab there while in grad school); just bought a place in Alford so I'm back in Mass, at least part time. I think I'd just garage the XKR December through end of March, no?

Holy ****, I said that to you few moons back.
I go from a Truck and a 40 year old jeep that does 0-60 in a gentleman's minute, 4 speed manual, no ac, no power steering, no power brakes, no power windows.....and then to supercharged adaptive cruise control with air conditioned seats, its like a time warp and warp drive.
The jeep costs more. Yeah the best power mod is getting some contrast.

I say drive it part time at least through the winter. If the roads are clear, why not take it for a weekend drive? Heck, I wash my cars through the winter too. As long as it's above freezing, I will wash the cars as I would during "the season". Hot water in the soap bucket is key!

The only problem with winter driving is the windows freezing. Car itself doesn't mind an inch or two of snow as long as you tuck in behind something to smoosh it down or blow it away.
