I saw that, and it fits my plans of waiting for the 3rd or 4th model year when all the high performance models are usually released.

Unfortunately for me, it'd be less "stepping up" and more "squeezing in". Too small for Sasquatch.

But where is the manual option? If there is no manual option I have no reason to leave the X150!

Agreed.

I was so close yesterday to test driving one. We were at a mall that is down the street from Jag dealer. Had time to kill, but decided to just drive home instead. In reality, we were too full from a S. Indian buffet lunch to go test driving.

I am curious to drive one. I have a list of cars I need to drive so I can re-align my day dreams for the next car.

I don't consider it a step up just a lateral move.

You may have your wish for a manual tranny.

I agree with MaximA, its not a step up....more of a lateral move. I looked at the XKR and F-type nose to nose in the dealer and you can't go wrong with either. Both are exceptionally beautiful cars. That said, I am seriously considering buying one. I too am going to wait. I'm sure they'll come out with an "R" or "R-S" vert. Now with a manual tranny?? That would be a no brainer, sign me up!

Hmmmmm..............Stepping up? How does spending less $ for the F than a new XKR equate to stepping up?

Stepping in to my XKR with my wife and daughter is a lot different than stepping into an f-type with them. Hummmm..who's going to not step into the f-type? Totally different cars for different function. No stepping up or stepping down...one is an orange and the other is an apple. When Jaguar comes out with the new generation XKR which will be 10s of thousands more than the f-type you may want to step up to the XKR. The new XK will certainly be much more expensive than the f-type. The outgoing XK is a real good deal in the GT car market today.

I have test drove an F-Type, and aside from the exhaust sound, the car is small and for a tall person it would be a stretch, and I do not think that you would get more looks than in the XK. besides the F-Type is still new so once the novelty wears off, then it will be an after thought, I mean I have an 09 XK and people still wonder what it is to this day. so in my mind the F-Type would be a step down.

When the F Type was first introduced I fell in love with the pictures of the up and coming F Coupe. I test drove the F Type 5 or 6 times, considering the the base model due to cost restraints. I just couldn't get used to the very firm and bouncy ride. The base does not have the dynamic control suspension which makes a huge difference. Finally, I decide to test drive an XK.......and the rest is history.

I test drove a 2014 Cayman with 19s that although drove firm but was forgiving on irregular surfaces. Not so with the Base F Type.

And if an F-Type doesn't float your boat, Jaguar have announced they are going to make six more of the lightweight bodied E-Type's!:

Speaking of stiffly sprung, are the XKR's suspension similar to the XJRs. Cause, compared the caddie we owned previously, the XJR was much more taunt? I liked it's ride and even my wife's who's daily driver it became. But then, I know the "cushy" ride of the big caddie is much different. Just didn't know the comparison between the XKR & the XJR?

Same here. I test drove each version of the F-type. I found the V8S ride to be surprisingly good but, the base model was simply jarring on the city streets around the dealership. The lack of the dynamic shocks do make a significant difference in the ride quality. There is really no excuse for Jaguar for not making those shocks standard across all F-type models. My XKR on 20" wheels rides far better over the very same road surfaces.

Now that would be something I would be interested in. An XKE convert with the 5.0 L SC and 6 speed ZF with updated seats and suspension. Make it out of aluminum and you would have a rocket.

The XK is just big enough for me to fit comfortably. I really like the look of the of the F-Type but, at 6'4, it's a bit on the small side to say the least.
