Exclamation XKR 2008 - Gear issue - First timer

Hi,
I bought my XKR in 2016 with 60k miles. very clean car, no issues what so ever. I parked it for two years as i was out of the country. Few days ago when I used it again i noticed that when i put it in drive it takes a few seconds more to engage, if i give it fuel before that it jumps making a very "painful to feel" nudge before it drives. Yesterday and all of a sudden I got a Transmission Error sign and I couldn't reverse anymore because it doesn't engage Reverse.
I am in Lebanon and our currency has recently lost 90% of its value. I mention this to let you know that I cannot afford to take it to the dealership now. I am looking to keep this car for the rest of my life, I think it is a potential proper classic and i love it.
Can you guys kindly advise on how to go about this.
Much Apreciated.

Raed

Codes need to be read.
With that many miles and with sitting, at minimum you will need a transmission fluid change. That includes replacing the pan as it incorporates the filter.
I perform the fluid change a little more frequently than most as I have not ever performed a flush.

Yes, a fluid and filter pan change can be done DIY and with online ordering. Remember the Mechatronic sleeve though, or it will probably leak afterwards.

Definitely need to read CODES. Suggest you clean the 4 ABS wheel speed sensors also. They may have residue from non use. Not a labor intensive job.
