Hi all,

If you own a 2014 XKR, better yet, if convertible, would you please specify here? I see many posts about issues that I later discover is about a 2007 or older model. Would love to just sort by 2014s if possible and get in touch with those who have the same.

Thank you,
GR

Why 2014 only? I have a 2013 convertible, but other than some trim options, I believe all the 5.0l models (2010 on) are the same except for the minor facelift and addition of a rearview camera in 2012.

Simon is correct. The only changes that I am aware of are trim type changes. In 2010 the engine changed over from the 4.2L to the 5.0L and rumor has it that transmission was changed, probably via a soft/firmware change. Most people put there year and model in their signature block which is an excellent idea.

OK, good to know. Anyone with a 2010 or newer would pretty much have the same engine, and/or problems if any. I should have done my research to see how the car changed the last few models. Thank you.

What do you guys use to protect the interior leather and dash? I'm always thinking the sun may be hard on the leather with the top down but I'd hate to buy some Armorall junk that would make things worse.

Thanks

I don't use anything other then either soap and water or Lexol cleaner wipes. Only need to keep the leather clean.

I use the Lexol cleaner wipes as well as the conditioner wipes. You would be amazed how dirty your steering wheel gets.

Ever use the Lexol conditioner with it...and just curious, are these the kind of wipe canisters that dry out the wipes below the first one you pull out of the can? I've had that happen to me before with some glass cleaner wipes, but may have had 20 come out by accident and stuck them back in.

Yes they are pull out wipes. No, I have never had them dry-out before use on me, but sometimes I have to re-feed them through pullout and snap off slot.

Have you listened to music through your phone in the car before via USB or how is it done? I want to download some music from Pandora to my phone and just listen through it. My Accord has a Pandora app but don't see anything like that on the 2014 XKR.

My wife is pretty technical and couldn't figure it out while I was driving.

Thank you,
GR

I don't think there's any way to stream anything, but I just loaded a 4 gig thumb drive with music and it works well enough for me. Granted, this is coming from a guy who was excited when cassette decks came out with auto-reverse and track skip, so YMMV.

When I'm ready to put her away for the winter, where is the best thread on how to hook up the battery tender...and where, the battery itself in the rear/trunk? Not sure folks were talking 2014's when doing so. Thanks!

Use the search function but you will see on the 2010-2015 MY you can hook the + (plus) side of the smart charger to the + terminal on the battery but you need to attach the - (minus) side of the charger to a chassis ground and NOT the battery - (minus).

Here's everything you need to know: www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk-xkr-x150-33/ctek-3300-battery-charger-installation-107738/

Some Forum members prefer connecting their battery maintainer directly to the battery terminals and others prefer using the remote battery termijnals in the trunk. I use the remote terminals for my XKR because they're easier to access. But I connected my XJ directly to the battery terminals because it was easy. Both work, but I recall that my XKR Owners Handbook says to use the remote battery terminals.

Read that thread^^^

also, in 2010 an up, sou shouldn't connect the negative wire directly to the battery, use a nearby chassis ground point. Again, there is a ground point mentioned in that thread. ^^^

From the Jaguar BATTERY MONITOR SYSTEM document:
"NOTE: When using a Jaguar approved battery charger or
maintainer, connect the charger to the recommended
ground point to ensure the charge flows through the
BMS module instead of the negative battery terminal.
Failure to observe this will set a diagnostic trouble code
(DTC) and incorrect battery condition information will
be retained by the BMS module due to unmonitored cur-
rent flow into the battery. However, the system will rec-
ognize and compensate for the change in the battery
status after a period of time.
