Reading the Jaguar spec's, the XKR 5.0 l. V8 engine shows the RPM as 6000/6500, which is it?

 

The specs I see says maximum power (510) from 6000-6500...no mention of redline. My guess is somewhere closer to 6800 rpm...and very unlikely much over that.

 

I would consider the redline where the tranny shifts automatically even when you're in the manual mode. My XK will shift automatically right around 6000, even when I try to hold it for a little higher shift using the manual mode and the paddles.

In sport mode with performance mode engaged, the tranny will not shift up unless you tell it to. This was one of the things I looked for before buying an automatic... I'm one of those stick shift meatheads that look askance at automatics! ;D

That being said, I've never actually tried to find the redline. Going to have to now... as soon as it stops raining that is.

 

I am still finding it difficult to forget about pushing the clutch in when trying the paddles...

 

I guess what I'm really asking is what RPM does the engine limiter shut it off at? That is on the new supercharged 5.0 l V8.
