Default XKR Lack of Gauges

I really like the analogue tach and spedo in my XKR but why they did not put any other gages in these cars is a mystery to me.
Has anyone installed temp, oil press, and amp gages? I seem to remember that someone made a program to have them in the nav screen but that is too complicated for me.

I was looking into 3 gauges on the driver side a-pillar. Or a sleek custom fixture to mount 2 gauges directly to the side of the dash display that would match the contour of the leather there.

Glowshift has some nice kits. But the fixtures would have to be 3D printed to get it to fit right. They do sell A-pillar mounts but not sure if it will fit the XK.

For me, it would be Coolant Temp, B+ voltage, and either oil pressure or boost pressure.

Where you been hiding then 95, you not read this thread?

And yes I was the first owner in the world to have it supplied/fitted...apart from the inventor

I remember reading on the forum sometime back about someone doing this very thing. I was struck by how well it turned out, but it looked like a lot of custom work to mod the A-pillar to fit three round gauges, to do the wiring, etc.

I can't find the post or thread, though, and I've tried. I searched "A-pillar", "gauge" etc. with no luck. I think maybe it's buried in one of the mega-threads with hundreds of posts. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Step 1. A Pillar Housing
Amazon Amazon

Step 2. Temperature Gauge
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008FXJS9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_DRBbGbX4WMRMV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008FXJS9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_DRBbGbX4WMRMV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Step 3. Voltage Gauge
Amazon Amazon

Step 4. Your choice of gauge, visit the HOTSTSTEM STORE from the link on Amazon.

I haven't done it, and am looking forward to detailed feedback of the installation from anyone who has done it.

?????
Is your Gauge Screen broken??? Weird. Mine works fine.

Seriously though, there are a lot of options. Mine is via Sean and an Android TV box and a GVIF.
There is also a popular ashtray gauge set by Cabrio Bob, and Cambo has a screen version also.
PLUS the newish Canavie which is on another thread.

OEM green dial > blue digital. "Fits any make/model" usually means it will require heavy modification to fit the XK =]. But yeah I think thatch the same one I searched a few months ago.

What other telemetry can be displayed? That is super cool.

Mine uses Sean's thread "Replacement of HKS Camp2", which I have every parameter which is available on Torque Pro app, which is probably hundreds...
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-camp2-175877/

Cambo's I can't recall the thread name, but I'm sure someone else will tag that thread for me.

Cabrio Bob's is a digital dual display in the ashtray, but requires some third party work,

The Canavie BIG screen unit is one of the top threads in the X150 forum, I'll take a quick look for it...

Lots of options mosesbotbol. He's displaying Torque Pro widgets. You can do as many as you care to fit on screen. Whatever Torque Pro displays is available. Here is Bill Macks excellent layout of my original setup. I originally used it to install a back up camera.

I've since moved to a Tesla style screen.

I'm unloading my GVIF and media box soon for a couple hundred if anyone's interested. I'll post it in the ads when I'm feeling interested.

Edit - I was posting at the same time as CeeJay

You can on the 2010 onward JT (though I don't think oil pressure is an option)

I too would like some analogue gauges... not via the ODBII port. Easily done but the problem I have is the placement. Not convinced about the pillar location. Nor do I want it on the screen. I was contemplating the centre vent location... but I like to use those. Any other ideas, anyone?
I don’t really need boost. But engine temp and oil pressure would be nice.

Your requirements just negated any sensible location for gauges, so you're pretty much out of luck. You could use an Android phone and tape it to your steering wheel, have Torque Pro running the whole time.

I also thought of this a couple years back and thought the best place was the center vent but I wanted to keep the center vent. The one thing I thought of was to use a 3D printer to manufacture a horizontally thinner center vent that would give enough space to install physical gauges. Obviously o went a different way.

The HOTSYSTEM gauges in my Post #5, above, use engine-mounted sensors, not the OBDII port. Just go to their Amazon store and select what you need.

I use an ELM327 OBDII Bluetooth reader together with my ancient HTC Droid Incredible phone and the free Torque app to provide virtual Water Temperature and Voltage gauges.
The picture is from my XJ, but it works the same in my XKR. It's cheap and easy to switch between my cars. I can mount the phone anywhere because it's a wireless Bluetooth connection to the ELM327.

And I resurrected and repurposed my deceased phone. What I did is the best bang for the buck for adding the gauges the factory forgot. Sure, it's not the slickest but it works for me.

well, if you can’t fix it with Tuck tape, lol...

I was trying to sort a way to squeeze 2 gauges into the instrument cluster. Or near by. Or perhaps 3 gauges in the centre console... Drawing this up today.

I put some in a while back. Not everyone's cup of tea, but they work for me. Wasn't super difficult to install

Nitros in the XJR (Incidentally, the best car I ever owned)... Nice!
