While your at it, have it disable the CAT system as well. That will stiffen up the dampers and make it more like the 5.0'S dynamic mode!

 

I've already been thinking about getting into the suspension control as well. It would be nice to be able to set a launch mode with the front stiff and the rear soft for better weight transfer. All that will be a little while though. For now I am going to make my own mild2wild for a better price and then get it to where you will have the option to keep the baffles closed from idle to redline as well if you wanted to attract less attention.

Does the 2002 XKR have the fuse #19? Does anyone recommend just mufflers for an exhaust upgrade? I'm not necessarily looking for more power(although I'll take it), just a little more growl. I was thinking Flowmaster 50s. Thanks,

 

No, the active exhaust is only on the 2006+ XKRs (aluminium body).

Removed F19 today, WOW what a sound!

 

I've got a theory that pulling fuse 19 doesn't sound much different in the car, but that it actually sounds significantly different from outside/behind.
Its been a while since I pulled fuse 19, but as soon as I did, I started getting people trying to race me at lights. That never used to happen.

 

Windows down I think it does, but I reckon I'll use more fuel as I'm keener on using the paddles now

 

I've got mine setup with a switch so as to turn it on and off at any point. Since it's easy to listen both ways back to back it makes it obvious what the difference is. After installing an xpipe instead of the two resonators in the center of the exhaust it has become even more noticeable when the valves are open or closed.

 

I'm not going to swap out my exhaust anytime soon on my '12XKR but I'd certainly pull a fuse. So A: Is it actually different than driving in dynamic mode? B: For those of you that have installed a switch (aka wild2mild) specifically which product works?

The sound is the same, but you don't get the other effects of Dynamic Mode (stiffer damping, sharper throttle response, etc.). All pulling Fuse 19 does is disable the system that controls the active exhaust.

Since I had the back seat out for the jagwrangler one touch top controller install I decided to play with fuse 19 finally. I compared the fuse19 in regular, dynamic mode, and fuse19 pulled regular and fuse pulled dynamic mode. It was noticeably louder with the fuse pulled over regular or dynamic mode. My wife confirmed it for me so that the way I'm rolling now! Increase the growl!!

 

Somehow it seems that others may not understand what fuse 19 actually does vs putting the car in DM. You are correct if you look at what fuse 19 controls the sound is not any different with it removed or it being in DM.

 

Is that for the whole RPM range because it really seemed to be noticeably louder with fuse19 pulled vs dynamic mode in my garage when I experimented? I'll admit it may have been confirmation bias but it really did seem different to both my wife and me.

 

It will sound louder when in the garage- because you cant engage Sport Mode inside garage?

Which makes the case for pulling fuse 19- you will have the deep sound in reverse and park.

But it makes the case against it- if you are looking to slip away at night, or the countless other activities that require one to be clandestine. No its not just about getting away from jealous husbands, what about sneaking out for lunch, when you have asked others to work through it.

So Jaguar has it right; you can be nonchalant when you desperately need to be- (on your way back from an evening out, while passing a cop) and flamboyant at will.

 

Or, install a 'Mild2Wild', and you can remotely control fuse 19.

 

I believe when the car is in Park, the valves are open (and the RPM is limited to 4000). So there should be no difference between any of the options.
