XKR Owners: Find Fuse 19 and Pull It! Now!

One of the joys of the Jaguar XKR comes from the power plant under the hood, and not because it’s quiet. But still, it could be louder, right? Thankfully a trick is at your disposal if you have an active exhaust fitted to your Jaguar. Fuse 19 (on the inside of the car by the rear seats) is where wiring is routed for the active exhaust, and pulling that fuse out means you’ll have the exhaust baffles open at all times.

One of our forum users reported the effects of pulling this fuse, and so far there’s been no negative comments in the thread. The biggest complaint is that it still doesn’t do all that much to increase decibels, except only in certain RPM ranges (only when the valve would be closed). Load and RPM dictates when it would open, so at the top end, noise ought to stay the same. The benefits are a beefier sound in the mid RPM range and few, if any side effects. Cold starts wont annoy the neighbors, and there’s no drone at highway speeds. So really it seems as though you get a win-win by adding some extra growl to your cat!
