Surprised! Thought the E-63 would have been faster! Midrange power is very good in the XKRS. Would like to race my XKRS against my Audi S-7 which is deceptivley fast.

Mustang GT-500. Just drove friend's new GT-500. 667 HP, I believe. First of all the car feels massive. Feels bigger than my Audi S7. $65K. No power seats, Paint is dull, etc.,etc. Feels like a truck on local roads. Sounds good. They finally opened the exhaust. First gear is a tire burner which is advertised. Drove for half an hour on country roads. Mechanical package is good. Engine and drive train work well together. Good supercharged throttle response. Surprising lack of midrange torque. Thought it would feel much faster than my XKRS. I do believe the Jag. could get a big jump on it from 40 or 50 mph. I know the Jag is a much more expensive car but but I would take a 65K used Bimmer, Porsche over the GT500 in a heartbeat. I personally think my 86 911 Track car sounds better and is much more fun than tire smoking stoplight drags. I also recognize that these cars perform well on the track but I think they are too big and loose for fast country road corners. That leaves tire smoking.

Has anyone installed michelin pilot super sports on their Xkr-s recently? I was looking to get oem size for the front but they seem to be back ordered and tire rack says they don't think they will be able to get any. I will probably go with larger fronts and rears which are available 265-35-20 and 305-30-20. A member from San Diego installed these a while ago without problems. Has anyone else gone with this size?

I have the 255/35ZR-20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport K2 Ferrari XL on the front, I guess they are discontinued?

On the rear I have the 305/30ZR-20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport XL and they fit perfect.

One of the best things I did was change the tires. The PSS clearly outperforms the PZero on this car, at least for me. Much more grip in the rear, can put the power down now.

Can the dealer adjust the different tire size in the cars SW to calibrate the speedometer ?

The 255/35/20 PSS are not available to the public at this time - only oem ferrari. Looks like I will need to go with 265 fronts.

I have read that the diameter is the same, so no need to calibrate the speedometer

OK I didn't know what is your OEM rear tire size. I assumed it to be 285-30/20 (26.8 OD) similar to mine which is a smaller tire then the 305-30/20 (27.2 OD). SO if your speedo is calibrated to the 305 then no problem.

OEM on the XKR-S is a 295/30-20 on the rear. I haven't noticed any issues with speedometer going to the 305.

These tires are great, highly recommend.

Might have been me....I can't remember now if I was there then, but I do live just 4 miles from Encinitas. I do know that the local dealer has sold at least 4 Ultimate Black XKR-S's in the last couple of years....so there are definitely others in the local area.

I don't believe Michelin ever made tires specifically for the XKR-S. The 255 fronts were Ferrari and 295 rears that fit were for a Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW. They just happen to be the same fitment for the XKR-S.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....um=535YR0PSSXL

But you can go wider on the XKR-S, 265 up front and 305 in the rear. Problem solved.

I already have the rear set at home and based on this post I ordered them last Friday for the front from tirerack. I received a call from tirerack that they are back ordered and will not be in until mid/end of October. I told him to send them when he has them. So they just seem to be in low supply right now, nothing else, no need to panic, most P cars have them.
