So long guys, I sold my car this week to a local dealer.
I am now back in a three pedal car like I should be. The XKR-S was a marvelous GT and I hope she finds a great home.
My new ride is a 2013 Shelby Cobra GT500...662 horsepower stock. She's a beast!
Best wishes to all!

reminds me of my saleen extreme with 4:10 gearing and 650hp.... i wish Saleen would have stayed around.
the super high end mustangs... they sound like an angry helicopter. Nothing sounds better than a mustang v8 with a supercharger.
congrats!!!! post an exhaust vid
listen to this baby (sigh..... i miss my stang!)
5.0 litre 302 saleen running in to the 10s with street tires/heavy chrome rims

Wow Matt. Everyone is looking for something different. IMO, although the Shelby is a great muscle car, doesn't come close to what you traded. Since this is a Jaguar forum I'm sure most will agree. However, have fun with it--a new toy is always a great feeling. Let us know about your deal. What did you sell your XKR-S for? did you buy the Shelby from the same dealer? Don't forget us here. I always enjoyed reading your helpful posts. Congrats. Your new ride is one of the nicest Shelby's I've seen. With 662hp not much on the road will touch it.

Here is an interesting article for the changes that were made for the 13/14 models, which are the last of this generation. The 5.8L supercharged Trinity Engine itself is amazing. The car even has a carbon fiber drive shaft. They did a lot of engineering on this car and it really performs great. I think it is excellent bang for the buck, easily one of the best performance values out there.

Its also great for me since it drives much more raw than the Jaguar and still has a backseat for my son. Even in stock form it's probably faster than my Eurocharged XKR-S, and with just $1500 dollars in bolt on's I will have ~700rwhp.
The shifter seals the deal for me, its terrific. Just what I was looking for.
As for my XKR-S, I shopped around and the best I could get from any dealer was $79k. The depreciation on these cars is predictably horrible. I guess I could have sold it myself but I didn't want to hassle with it. The place I sold my car to also had a GT500 but they wouldnt budge on pricing, asking $59.2k for a 2014 with 4500 miles. The tax savings against the higher price turned out to be a wash since I found a better optioned, lower mileage car for a cheaper price after negotiating with another dealer.
For my Shelby, I was in contact with 3 or 4 dealers trying to negotiate a deal over several days time period. I was finally able to strike a deal, paying $56.5k for a 2013 Shelby GT500 (with 1700 miles) that stickered for $67,090 MSRP. Some new Shelby's are selling for $3k-$5k or more over sticker, so I am very happy with this deal. My car has the SVT performance pack (electronically adjustable dampeners, torsen limited slip diff, and other goodies), electronics pack with NAV, Shaker Pro audio, the nice cobra Recaro seats, and the track pack which offers extra cooling to critical components.
I am a car enthusiast and change cars every 2 years or so. I honestly have little if any brand loyalty, instead choosing each car for its own merits. I do love the diversity each brand has to offer and I will say the new Shelby is one sweet ride.

I finally got back my custom carbon fiber interior pieces. I just replaced the center console section as I like the metal trim above the glove box and under the steering column. I'm very happy with the finish and plan to have few more custom pieces made. Cheers.
Looks real good. Are you going to get your steering done with a combination of CF/leather or alcantara and have it custom made too?
Thanks. I'm thinking about it... I'm doing the mods slowly and trying to keep them looking as if they were OEM. It's easy to get carried away thus changing the entire personality of the car. I'm also only modifying parts that I buy extras of so I can put it back to stock without issues. I've been keeping an eye on eBay for a steering wheel but haven't seen one pop up yet. There are some on the uk site but typically they wont ship overseas as they are authorized Jag dealers.
Do you mind sharing where you got them? They look really nice!
BTW, anyone has XKR-S repair manual on a CD or DVD, or, knows where I can order one?

It all depends on what you're looking for. The GT500 performance wise is ahead of the car I had. It is a totally different driving experience all together. The Jag is MUCH quieter inside the cabin, and the ride is many times softer and more luxurious. It is the better highway cruiser, no doubt. However, I basically became bored because of this and needed something to "wake me up" so to speak. The 2013/2014 Shelby GT500 fits the bill perfectly.

Go to Jagdocs.com. The Jaguar XK manual has all models and it's only about $30.00. Much better than Mercedes manuals that cost 10Xs more. Also, they are very good to deal with and will help you find any documentation you want.

Matt cool ride and it looks great. I looked at one at our local track last month and they do a super job. The only drawback I can see is you left an exclusive type of car which you don't see to many. For the joe sixpack you now have a Mustang. Please don't take as an insult as all car guys know what you have . Happy driving.

As for something special, I was also looking at 06 Gallardo's and F430's in manual but I decided to let them come down a bit more and revisit that at a later date. My wife is no longer teaching and wants to stay at home for a few years doing the soccer mom thing so I figured this is a way I can save some money and still have fun.
But its all good. When I tell my friends I "downgraded" to a GT500 they all laugh. They just think I'm crazy to say something like that.
